CAREER ZONE

New this week!

2019 ENTRY CLEARING IS NOW OPEN WHAT IS CLEARING? Clearing is how universities and colleges fill any places they still have on their courses. You find courses (with vacancies) that interest you and contact universities or colleges directly, to see if they will offer you a place. From 5 July to 23 October, you can apply for a course using Clearing if you are not already holding an offer from a university or college and the course still has places by adding an additional choice in track.

You can use Clearing if: 

You are applying after 30 June

You didn’t receive any offers (or none you wanted to accept)

You didn’t meet the conditions of your offers

What you need to do: DON’T PANIC!! 

Check track—If you become eligible to use Clearing, an ‘Add Clearing choice’ option will appear on your Track Choices screen. You can also check directly with your firm and insurance choices.

Check the official Clearing listings—All clearing vacancies are listed in the UCAS search tool. Consider alternative courses—maximise your choice by considering a joint course with another subject, instead of a single subject course.

Start ringing possible universities straight away—Vacancies at higher ranked universities can be filled quickly, so be the early bird that catches the worm! Remember to have your Clearing number to hand, this will be on the Welcome page

Once given permission by the university, go to ‘Your Choices’ section of Track and click ‘Add Clearing Choice’ and add the details of the course.
