Our Cyberspace Communication Specialists are at the heart of everything we do, nothing starts without them. Imagine a world without your mobile phone, WiFi or social media. Our Cyberspace Communication Specialists are responsible for maintaining all the communications networks the RAF rely on every day and defending them from being interrupted or seen by the wrong people. As a Cyberspace Communication Specialist you will be trained to use high-tech tools and equipment and will be responsible for establishing and maintaining systems. You will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks; ranging anywhere from safeguarding our UK-based IT networks from intrusions, coordinating the RAF’s vast array of information, all the way to establishing overseas networks and equipment for Deployed Commanders and Air Traffic Services.

The HSBC and M&S Work Experience Programme is designed to encourage students from different socialeconomic backgrounds to find out about banking with a view of joining HSBC either after university of after school, through the apprenticeship or undergraduate programmes. The programme offers a five day shadowing experience to students in the later years of full-time secondary education, sixth form or college. The programme was set up with the idea to help young people gain an insight into a professional environment, as well as the banking industry.

Aardman are looking for 16-25 year olds to help shape a brand new project. We want to hear about your experiences living in the 21st century, for us to better understand what it's like to be you! Aardman would like to run a series of small workshops and we believe we would need 90 minutes of your time for these sessions. There will be a small fee for your time. During the workshops, we will discuss the challenges faced by young people, although we will still aim to keep the sessions fun and positive! We hope to schedule these workshops in over the next few weeks. Please note sessions will be recorded via audio capture. The sessions will allow Aardman to draw inspiration for a series of animated films, however we won’t be using extracts from your audio or any personal stories that identify you. Launch Pad – Level 7 School Leaver Apprenticeship Programme – Summer 2019 Aimed at ambitious school leavers, Launch Pad is our exciting new Level 7 apprenticeship programme that offers a real alternative to going to university. The role will enable students to train to be a chartered accountant within 5 years through the studying of the ICAEW CFAB and ACA qualifications. Students will be rotated around our Business Services, Audit and Tax departments to give them maximum experience to aid their career development. Nuffield Research Placements For Yr 12 STEM students (Summer holiday placement Spend your summer holiday developing your research and quantitative skills on a short project that will enhance your university application and career prospects A fantastic opportunity to work alongside a researcher in either a university or an industry setting. The aim of the scheme is to give students a hands-on experience of research in action, providing them with information about what a career in STEM might be like. What will I be doing? Students will carry out their own mini research project, write up a scientific report and design a poster about their findings which they present at the Celebration Event after the end of the placements. Students are supported to develop the skills needed for these activities (academic writing, communication, independent and team working and the soft skills around work such as time management and organisation) by their project mentor and by the regional Nuffield Research Placements Coordinator and team. When is it? For 4-6 weeks full time over the school/college summer holidays. Exact dates and location will depend on your placement. What’s in it for me? The experience is a great to put on any CV or UCAS form and will make you stand out as a serious contender in any application. How do I apply? We have a number of vacancies for Reserve Firefighters to be trained in basic defensive fire fighting. These staff will only be used to provide resilience support during any periods of unforeseen staff shortages. It is important to note that in most cases there is not an ongoing need to use Reserve Firefighters and therefore there will be significant ongoing periods of time when you will not be called upon to work. You will be required to attend an initial three day basic training programme (dates to be confirmed) and will receive ongoing refresher training every year. Training is paid at the standard hourly rate. Applicants must live within the Avon Fire & Rescue Service area or within a 25 mile radius of our boundary. No travel or accommodation expenses will be paid for work shifts. You must possess a driving licence and have access to your own transport. An LGV driving licence would be an advantage but is not essential.

VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES
At hop, skip and jump we provide flexible and wrap around care for children and young adults with additional needs. Our Bristol centre has a large area to explore with a wide range of areas including a dark sensory room, a white sensory room, soft play / ball pit area, a music room, a games room and an art room. We also have a fully working kitchen and a massive outdoor space equipped with climbing frames, swings, slides for all ages and abilities and a lovely sensory area. We provide a range of different sessions throughout the year which include: Respite sessions: These sessions run every Saturday and during the school holidays (except Tuesday and Thursday mornings), for children and young adults with additional needs and challenging behaviours. Stay and play sessions: These sessions run every Saturday and during the school holidays (except Tuesday and Thursday mornings) where the service user can come with either their families or carers to use the centre independently. The service user is in full care of their family or carer. After school club sessions: These sessions are currently run on Wednesday and Friday evenings 3:30- 6:00, offering children and young adults with additional needs and challenging behaviour a safe environment to build social skills and engage in fun activities.
