Politics and Economics taster day - Friday 26 April Year 12 students are invited to the University to find out more about studying Politics and Economics at the University of Bristol. Breaking the Barriers event for estranged students and those who are/have been in care - Wednesday 1 May The Education Equality Society from the University of Bristol are running a student-led outreach initiative targeted at students from year 11 onwards who are estranged from their parents or from a care background. This event will showcase many aspects of university, with a focus on breaking the barriers of attending university for individuals who are estranged from their parents and those who are/have been in care. Current University of Bristol students who have overcome these barriers will be attending the event and will be happy to share their personal experiences, in an informal and relaxed setting. We have a number of vacancies for Reserve Firefighters to be trained in basic defensive fire fighting. These staff will only be used to provide resilience support during any periods of unforeseen staff shortages. It is important to note that in most cases there is not an ongoing need to use Reserve Firefighters and therefore there will be significant ongoing periods of time when you will not be called upon to work. You will be required to attend an initial three day basic training programme (dates to be confirmed) and will receive ongoing refresher training every year. Training is paid at the standard hourly rate. Applicants must live within the Avon Fire & Rescue Service area or within a 25 mile radius of our boundary. No travel or accommodation expenses will be paid for work shifts. You must possess a driving licence and have access to your own transport. An LGV driving licence would be an advantage but is not essential.

Are you planning to study Medicine? A Medicine Taster Day can help you choose where and what you want to study Full-day Student Programme covering key elements of becoming a doctor, with talks on our selection process, life as a doctor, funding for your medical degree, Case Based Learning and a Q&A panel, as well as workshops covering Clinical Skills, Simulation Suite, life as a medical student, Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs) and writing your personal statement.

Apprenticeship Programme / Insight Evening / Work Experience Opportunities - 2019
Launch Pad – Level 7 School Leaver Apprenticeship Programme – Summer 2019 Aimed at ambitious school leavers, Launch Pad is our exciting new Level 7 apprenticeship programme that offers a real alternative to going to university. The role will enable students to train to be a chartered accountant within 5 years through the studying of the ICAEW CFAB and ACA qualifications. Students will be rotated around our Business Services, Audit and Tax departments to give them maximum experience to aid their career development. Work Experience Programme – w/c Monday 8th July 2019 – Bristol Office Aimed at Y12’s and Y13’s, our Work Experience Programme enables students to gain a good understanding of the accountancy profession but also the chance to experience what it’s like to work within an ambitious professional services business. PARTICLE PHYSICS MASTERCLASS Sixth-form students with a keen interest in physics are welcome to join us for our annual Masterclass workshop. Students will interact with our knowledgeable scientists by running computer simulations, designing detectors and testing their general particle physics knowledge .

SS Great Britain Easter Visitor Experience Volunteer To support our Visitor Experience team in welcoming, engaging and inspiring visitors during the busy Easter Holiday period. We have an exciting programme of events and activities planned at the SS Great Britain this Easter and are looking for volunteers to help us bring the dockyard to life. We are planning a fun-packed programme for visitors with a series of interactive, hands-on activities in the dockyard being a particular highlight. By getting involved, it would provide you with valuable experience of public engagement and what it is like to work in the heritage/tourism sector. As an Easter Visitor Experience Volunteer you will be supervised by our Visitor Experience Volunteer Supervisor. Volunteers are an important part of the organisation and play a vital role in enhancing the work of the Trust. We are committed to providing volunteering opportunities of a high standard. VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES
At hop, skip and jump we provide flexible and wrap around care for children and young adults with additional needs. Our Bristol centre has a large area to explore with a wide range of areas including a dark sensory room, a white sensory room, soft play / ball pit area, a music room, a games room and an art room. We also have a fully working kitchen and a massive outdoor space equipped with climbing frames, swings, slides for all ages and abilities and a lovely sensory area. We provide a range of different sessions throughout the year which include: Respite sessions: These sessions run every Saturday and during the school holidays (except Tuesday and Thursday mornings), for children and young adults with additional needs and challenging behaviours. Stay and play sessions: These sessions run every Saturday and during the school holidays (except Tuesday and Thursday mornings) where the service user can come with either their families or carers to use the centre independently. The service user is in full care of their family or carer. After school club sessions: These sessions are currently run on Wednesday and Friday evenings 3:30- 6:00, offering children and young adults with additional needs and challenging behaviour a safe environment to build social skills and engage in fun activities.
