St Brendan’s offers a uniquely affordable and flexible option for preuniversity study in the U.K. We are the region’s only state Sixth Form College teaching over 70 A-levels and BTECs to 1800 students on a modern university style campus. Established in 1896 and rebuilt in 2009 to mirror a university campus in style and quality, we offer a real-world university preparation experience for international students. We currently have students from Albania, China, Egypt, Hong Kong, Iran, Macau, Malaysia and Russia. Course areas include: Business, Economics, Computer Science, Dance, Drama, Fine Art, Geography, Graphics, History, ICT, Languages, Law, Maths, Music, Philosophy, Photography, Politics, Psychology, Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics), Sociology, Sport and Textile Design. Study programmes are for: 2 year A-level and BTEC Level 3 programmes 1 year BTEC Level 2 and supplementary GCSE Courses Students typically study 3 subjects. The most academic students can study 4 subjects as a member of our Advanced Graduate Programme. “Being able to choose my own subjects and having a flexible timetable; this has allowed me to carry out a science project and other activities that are not related to my lessons.

Advanced Graduate Programme tutor groups are a good way to meet like-minded students who have high aspirations for their studies. University Placements The College benefits from close relationships with high ranking local universities in the South-West such as Bristol, Bath, Cardiff and Exeter. In 2016, 356 student successfully placed at 84 different Higher Education Institutions in the U.K.

International student support We offer specialist support from first point of enquiry to graduation including: • • • • • •

Modern Facilities Following £20 million capital investment since 2009, the College has been completely rebuilt as a WIFI enabled campus with purpose-built science labs, art and design studios, and sports facilities. There is one PC for every two students placed in drop-in study areas all over campus, and a state-of-the-art learning resources centre with dedicated E learning support staff. Enrichment You can select from a wide range of extra-curricular activities. Wednesday afternoons are reserved for sports and other activities. You may choose activities to enhance your course, to pursue a cause you believe in or just for fun. These are a great way to make new friends and enhance your personal statement for university. Typical enrichment groups include Biomedical /STEM, board games, book club, drama, robotics, project work and cultural societies.

Student Union Just like a university, our students vote in other students to represent their interests to the College management and to run social activities throughout the year. “This college also provides many facilities for example,the learning resource center,media room and Maths Hub. So far I have not find any difficulties in settling into this college and this college has exceeded my expectations in what a college should be.” Jian Hui Poh Finance Fees for 2017 entry are £8,000 per year. Scholarships based on academic merit are available, worth 10% of the yearly fees. Accommodation averages at £155 per week in a host family. We work with a British Council accredited company to carefully vet families in easy reach of the College. Students benefit from their own bedroom and meals provided. Costs average at under £7000 per academic year. Entry requirements for an A-level programme High School: Minimum 10, usually 11 years of completed education, equivalent to at least 5 UK GCSEs. English language: 5.5 in IELTS with no less than 5.0 in each element or equivalent. Visa applicants must take a UKVI approved SELT test. Living in Bristol St Brendan’s Sixth Form College is located in the vibrant city of Bristol, economic capital of the South-West and just 10 minutes from the historic city of Bath. Bristol is an amazing study destination and an affordable city to live in. The city is convenient to reach, just 90 minutes from London and Heathrow with its own international airport, two mainline train stations and extensive bus and coach services. Bristol was named the European Green Capital 2015, boasting consistent reductions in carbon emissions in spite of a growing economy. The city is considered one of the easiest cities to live in without a car, with many young people choosing to cycle.

Student Accommodation Our international students live locally with carefully vetted host families in order to improve their English and have the support of a UK family. The college offers a dedicated bus service collecting students from every city district for added convenience. “The accommodation provided by the college is in the form of a host family. The family treats me with respect and I am comfortable living here as they not only provide the accommodation but also let me take part in their conversations and allow me to express my opinion and elevate my English language skills.
