The Career Zone have six employers coming to St Brendan’s who have offered to support students develop their interview skills. This workshop is part of the career ready programme but has been kindly opened up to a limited number of students who are not on the programme. It will be particularly beneficial for students who are applying for jobs and apprenticeships that are likely to include an interview as part of the process.

Thursday 19th March 2020 12.30 to 1.30 D2/3 If you are keen to develop your interview skills with an experienced interviewer from the world of work please let us know by emailing ceiag@strbn.ac.uk. Places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.

The Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology Degree Apprenticeship - Bristol Open Evening

Considering pursuing engineering at University? As well as attending the UCAS exhibition, the Dyson Institute will be hosting an Open Evening for any staff, prospective students and their family to come and find out more about our unique Degree Apprenticeship Programme.

Tuesday 10th March 6pm-8.30pm Bristol *Refreshments will be available from 6pm on arrival. There will be an introductory presentation at 6.30pm with a opportunity to network afterwards. Film/Media/Production ALL STUDENTS

ScreenSkills Apprenticeship Programme 2020 Get your start in film and TV as an apprentice with a chance of working on upcoming productions such as The Crown, Pennyworth, The Batman, Fantastic Beasts 3 and The Witcher with the ScreenSkills Apprenticeship Programme. ScreenSkills will hire 20 people as apprentices on fixed-term contracts of between 14 and 17 months. During that time the apprentices will do a mix of work placements with Netflix and the WarnerMedia group alongside training with specialised training providers. This is part of a new scheme supported by the Government’s Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport that aims to help more people get into the film and TV industries without having been to film school or getting a degree. Assistant production accountant apprenticeship  17 months  Provisional start date: 1 July  10 places available Broadcast production assistant apprenticeship  14 months  Provisional start date: 1 July  10 places available You don’t need any film or TV experience to apply for either of these apprenticeships - just a GSCE in English and maths and a love for the industry.

Housing Assistant Apprentice South Glos Council - Kingswood Are you looking to kick start your career working in housing? As our apprentice you’ll learn relevant legislation including duties to accommodate under the Housing Act 1996 Part VII and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 as well as the statutory guidance on suitability of accommodation. This will help you to understand how to arrange placements for customers into emergency accommodation under the correct statutory duty, perform all tasks related to the sign-up, ensuring terms of occupancy are met and taking enforcement where not. This includes discharging duty under a statutory process where appropriate. You will also learn how to arrange grants and loans approved for customer to access private sector accommodation. We will allocate you a workplace mentor to give you guidance and support throughout your 18 month apprenticeship and completion of a Level 2 in Housing / Property Management Assistant What we need from you:  Ideally hold a minimum qualification in GCSE English and Maths at grade D or 3 and above, or Level 1 Functional Skills in English and Math’s. If you do not have these you must be willing to undertake and gain Functional Skills in English and Maths as part of the apprenticeship.  You will have good attention to detail to produce accurate, error free work.  Good IT and numeracy skills.  You will have the ability to show sensitivity and empathy in your work and communicate well with others.  Be motivated and willing to learn throughout the apprenticeship.

APPRENTICESHIPS Civil engineering Degree Apprentice South Gloucestershire Council (Yate) Are you looking for a career opportunity where you can complete a degree level apprenticeship in Civil Engineering? If you’d like to gain a degree without the debt, we are looking for a Civil Engineering Apprentice to undertake this amazing opportunity to develop into a professional career. As our apprentice your affinity for mathematics and attention to detail will be a welcome addition to our team at South Gloucestershire Council who are making a real difference to the lives of the people who live, work and learn here. Over the 5 year apprenticeship, you will be taught at UWE and learn key engineering concepts, alongside vital professional skills in management, creative skills in design of civil and structural engineering and systems, practical skills in surveying, geographical information systems (GIS) and computer-aided design (CAD). You will have commitment to meet requirements of the professional training and ensure that all reporting and training documents are completed on time and to the quality standards agreed. At the end you will gain a BEng (Hons) Civil and Environmental Engineering degree and will be working towards a professional qualification such as Incorporated Engineer (IEng). What we need from you:  Must hold a minimum qualification in GCSE English and Maths at grade C or 4/5 and above.  Minimum of 2 A-level’s with one in Mathematics at Grade C or above or a Level 3 BTEC in Construction and the Built Environment.  You will have good attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, error free work.  Have excellent communication skills and be able to work as part of a team contributing to effective service delivery.  You will have effective IT and numeracy skills including the ability to accurately update information systems and databases.  Be able to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines according to demand.
