CHANNEL TALENT We are offering a great programme of events which allows students to take part as individuals either from school or college, or from home. The sessions, many of which include two or more universities, aim to be dynamic and highly participative, encouraging everyone to engage and shape the session but in a way that they are comfortable with. We have some new formats including, for example, Think Tank which invites 2 or 3 university academics from different disciplines to discuss/debate pressing issues, PowerPoint-free, with questions posed by the school audience. A small number of sessions will be recorded but most will focus on the live, participatory nature of the event which is where we see the greatest value. Here is the current programme:

This is a webpage that has been added to our website over the summer. The Careers Resources area contains resources created during this time to help young people gain an insight into the careers available in the NHS.

We have recently added a case study about Soraya, one of our careers ambassadors, who is a doctor and is training to become a Surgeon. She’s shared her career journey so far and you can read her case study on this webpage. Case studies are available as a PDF document. They can be printed and shared with students, particularly with those who have limited access to IT. We’ve also added QR codes which can be scanned using a smartphone camera to access other helpful websites related to the profession featured in the case study. Going forwards, we’ll be looking to add more case studies to this webpage and we will promote them via our social media. I f you have any young people interested in a career in the NHS, direct them to our website or they can follow us on social media (Facebook /RoyalUnitedHospitalBath, Twitter @RUH_Careers, Instagram @RUHBath) to be updated when new case studies have been created. Careers Events, Info and Opportunities CHORAL VOLUNTEER AND SCHOLARSHIPS 2021-22 and 2022-23 Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance is the only Conservatoire in the world to support a collegiate Chapel Choir. Volunteer places and choral scholarships are available to undergraduate and postgraduate students; many are first study vocal students but other students are eligible to apply if it is compatible with other commitments in the Faculty of Music. Since Trinity College of Music moved to Greenwich in 2001 it has been responsible for the music at weekly services in the Old Royal Naval College Chapel. The Chapel Choir (directed by Ralph Allwood MBE) now has 28 members drawn from the college and surrounding communities. The choir sings a wide range of music from the 16th Century to the present day and Choral Scholars regularly have the opportunity to perform substantial solos, in works such as the B Minor Mass and Messiah.

Auditions for both volunteer and scholarship places in the choir are held in late February, prior to the start of each new academic year in September, with audition notices circulated in January. Successful candidates will be accomplished musicians, good singers with the ability both to blend and take on significant solos. Good sight reading is essential, as the repertoire is broad and demanding while rehearsal time is limited. They will have a love of the sacred choral repertoire and want to be a member of a closely knit team. They will wish to represent the conservatoire through the work of the chapel and, more widely, through concerts, broadcasts, and through singing occasional services at other venues. The choir has toured India, Malta and the UK, and have recently produced a recording (on the Signum label) of works by Roderick Williams.

Past scholarships have ranged from ÂŁ1500 to ÂŁ5000 for more senior members, which can be supplemented by significant fees from concerts, weddings and extra events. In addition to occasional additional services, the normal weekly commitment is: Sundays (9.45am rehearsal, 11.00am Eucharist) Mondays (4.00pm rehearsal 5.30pm evensong + 7.00pm - 8.30pm rehearsal) There will be some extra services at the end of the autumn term and in Holy Week. Good notice will be given of these. Auditions will be held on in February, 2021, at Trinity Laban. To apply, please send your music CV to Phillippa Scammell at p.scammell@trinitylaban.ac.uk, Further information about the Chapel Choir can be found at https://www.trinitylaban.ac.uk/the-chapeel-choir
