Enhancing Educational Opportunities
In the vibrant year of 2022, the culmination of a visionary dream was realised as we opened and celebrated The Jamie and Rebecca Gray Theatre which stands proudly at the front of our School. The Theatre is a testament to community philanthropy and the vision of a leading major gift donor family.
The completion of this remarkable Performing Arts space was not just a physical structure, but a celebration of imagination, innovation, and the power of storytelling. As the curtains rose for the first time, a new era of cultural enrichment and entertainment was ushered in. Concurrently, a steadfast fundraising endeavour took centre stage with an ambitious goal to raise $1 million for the redevelopment of the St Catherine’s Sports Centre, a transformational project that breathed new life into the venerable Dorothy Pizzey Hall. The community has rallied around this careful and clever redevelopment project, recognising the potential for athletic excellence and holistic wellbeing.

Redevelopment. The new Sports Centre provides our students with a contemporary fit-for-purpose indoor sports court, a dedicated sports and conditioning studio and a PMP (Perceptual Motor Program) and Tumbling Studio for our younger athletes. These new facilities will enhance and expand St Catherine’s existing Sports Programs with offerings in new and exciting fields.
The impact of this unified effort reverberated far beyond dollars and structures – it reverberated within the hearts of those who believed in the power of giving, of enabling dreams, and creating a brighter future for all. We extend our heartfelt thank you to all those who supported the Foundation in 2022.
The reimagined space was officially opened by Mrs Lauren Fox (Hewitt ’96) with 280 guests from our community. Lauren shared stories about the strength of the St Catherine’s community and the support she felt while representing Australia at the Atlanta Olympic Games during her final year at School. The opening was a wonderful way to thank our generous donors and to see the new space in action.
Our philanthropic reporting crosses over from 2022 to 2023 as our fundraising projects are not contained to one financial year. The statistics within this Report reflect the donor data and impact of giving for the period 1 January 2022, to 31 December 2022, however we are delighted to include major giving successes relating to our most recent fundraising appeal – the new St Catherine’s Sports Centre.
