Camp St. Cecilia is a summer program designed to give girls ages 4-17 an opportunity to have fun while learning. Campers experience St. Cecilia Academy’s academics, athletics, and fine arts programs while interacting with faculty, students, coaches, alumnae, and parents. The camps offer excellent instruction for girls by experienced instructors. Each girl attending Camp St. Cecilia will be exposed to skills in a variety of areas to further develop her academic and extracurricular interests.

CAMP HOURS: All camps are half-day, either from 9 a.m.noon or 1-4 p.m. Girls attending both sessions may stay all day, bring a lunch and eat in the cafeteria with other campers and Camp St. Cecilia staff members.

BEFORE AND AFTER-CARE: Camp St. Cecilia is happy to offer before and after-care from 7:30-8:45 a.m. and 4-5:30 p.m. Girls will enjoy a snack, play games, and participate in other activities. The cost is $40 per week for before or after-care, $75 for both. Sign up during camp registration.

REGISTRATION: Registration is not complete until payment is received. A camp T-shirt and a snack during each day are included in the camp fee. A medical and photography release form for each camper must be completed as well. Athletic camps also require a signed concussion statement. All registrations will be confirmed via email prior to the start of each camp. Families with more than one camper should register each child separately. The grade level for camps is the grade a child enters in August 2023.

DROP OFF/PICK UP: Drop off and pick up will be at the circle drive near the Fine Arts Center. Check-in will begin at 8:45

a.m. the first day of each camp week for the morning session and 12:45 p.m. for the afternoon session. Campers dropped off before 8:45 a.m. will report to before-care at the $10 per day drop-in rate. Campers not picked up by 4 p.m. will go to after-care at the $10 per day drop-in rate.

ALLERGIES: Please inform Camp St. Cecilia of any food allergies. Baking and cooking camps are not allergy-free. Camp staff will provide allergy-free snacks to those who request them.

REFUNDS: We will refund 75% of your camp fees only if it is requested prior to May 19, 2023. We cannot make any refunds after this date. If camps are cancelled by Camp St. Cecilia, full refunds will be given.

UPDATES: Updates to camp procedures, cancellations, and other information will be posted to the camp website at www.stcecilia.edu/camp, the Camp St. Cecilia Facebook page, and emailed to parents prior to each session.

JUNE 5-9, 9 A.M.-12 P.M.

Under the Sea: Grades PreK-2 $150

Dive in as we explore the wonder and amazement of oceans and the creatures that live there! Campers will make crafts, read stories, make sensory sand and rescue an animal from a frozen ocean. Amy Patterson, an SCA mother and teacher at Percy Priest Elementary, will be the captain of this adventure!

World Traveler Camp: Grades K-5 $160

Every day is an adventure, and each day is a new country in this camp! Campers will collect passport stamps as they explore food, clothing, languages, and culture from all over the world. From Italy to Kenya, girls will explore all the world has to offer! Shelly Gaughan ’06 and Lauren Stetka are both elementary teachers and will teach this camp. *Note- campers will be in grade level groups for this camp, K-2 and 3-5.

Tennis FUNdamentals: Grades 1-4 $130

This camp offers girls a basic understanding of tennis with emphasis on the fundamentals and match play. Each camper will learn the five basic tennis shots and to keep score and court position. All skill levels are welcome. This camp will be coached by SCA tennis coach David Donlon.

Math is 4 Girls: Grades 3-5 $150

This camp boosts girls’ math skills to a new level through

fun hands-on activities. The camp will spend time working with multiplication, division, word problems, and fractions. Girls will also work with logic and reasoning skills. There will be a lot of fun making games out of mathematical concepts, including a “pi” celebration at the end of the week. SCA alumna and Overbrook School math and science teacher Diane Meier ‘91 will teach this camp.

Creative Stitching: Grades 3-5 $150

Learn the life-long hobby of cross stitching in this camp! Girls will learn the basic stitches used in cross stitching to create a bookmark, candy jar lid, or key fob. This camp will be taught by Angela Siefker, a retired Overbrook School preschool teacher with over 40 years of experience. She is an active needle pointer, knitter, and cross stitcher and enjoys teaching these to others.

Middle School Basketball Camp: Grades 5-8 $130

This fun basketball camp is for girls of all skill levels interested in developing individual fundamentals and teambuilding skills. Campers will be taught basketball basics, form shooting, and participate in fun games and drills. Head basketball coach Cassi Whitworth will lead this camp with SCA basketball team members.

When You Wish Upon a Star: Grades K-4 $140

Girls discover their inner princess and dance the days away in this camp. Dancers will dance to favorite Disney

hits, play games, and learn magical dances to show family at the end of the week. This camp will be taught by St. Cecilia Dance Academy instructor Maddie Williams. She has a degree in dance pedagogy and danced with Disney Cruise Line before moving to Nashville.

I Love the 90’s: Grades K-5 $150

We will travel back in time to when our parents were kids! This week we will play board games that will have you clutching your pretty princess pearls, refine your crafting skills making iron on bead magnets, style the stars as a 90's fashion designer, and whip up an afternoon Dunkaroo snack! Shelly Gaughan ’06 and Lauren Stetka are both elementary teachers and will teach this camp.

American Girl Camp: Grades 1-4 $165

Pack your doll for a week of American Girl adventure! We will explore the life and times of Nanae, Kit, Julie, Addy, Luciana, and Samantha through crafts, activities, games, and story time. At the end of the week, we will celebrate with our dolls at an ice cream social! SCA history teacher Sara Strobel ‘01 will teach this camp.

Little Scarab Basketball Camp: Grades 1-4 $130

This fun basketball camp is for girls of all skill levels interested in developing individual fundamentals and teambuilding skills. Campers will be taught basketball basics, form shooting, and participate in fun games and drills. Head basketball coach Cassi Whitworth will lead this camp with SCA basketball team members.

Get Your Game On!: Grades 2-4 $150

Campers will learn individual and group card games to pass time by yourself, family, and friends. Campers will work on skills and approaches to fun board games and use these skills to begin family game night. Retired Overbrook School preschool teacher Angela Siefker enjoys playing cards and games with family and friends and will bring her 40 years of classroom experience to teaching this camp.

Forensics—The Art of Public Speaking: Grades 5-8 $150

This camp is a terrific way to learn the ins and outs of forensics and public speaking. Campers will explore the worlds of prose, poetry, and duet acting. This camp is designed to give girls a glimpse into the world of forensics and the skills that are great preparation for any forensics team. SCA alumna Diane Meier ’91 teaches at Overbrook School and will coach this camp.

Middle School Tennis Camp: Grades 5-8 $130

All levels of tennis experience are welcome in this camp, from beginner to intermediate to advanced. Camps will focus on fundamentals (forehand, backhand, volley, serve), drills and games, and eventually match play. This camp will be coached by SCA head tennis coach, David Donlon.

Camp JOY!: Grades PreK-1 $75

Getting to know Jesus, Others, and Yourself leads to true JOY in the Christian life! Join the Dominican Sisters for a week of faith and fun, as together we grow in our friendship with Jesus through daily theme-based activities that incorporate the Scriptures, the saints, and various virtues. We will make new friends and have a lot of fun through a mix of age-appropriate games, activities, and crafts that help us discover more about God, ourselves, and the fascinating treasures of our Catholic faith!

Animals and Art: Grades K-2 $150

Are you an animal lover? Learn to draw and create animals in a variety of art materials in this camp. Girls will explore clay, paint, pastel, and recycled materials to create a collection of animals from around the world in this camp. This camp will be taught by Libby Goldammer who teaches art at St. Edward School, including an after-school art club. Libby loves to paint and draw in her free time.

Discovering Textiles: Grades 2-5 $160

Have you ever wondered how to knit or sew? Get ready to explore all about making textile goods. Each day we will explore a different type of textile craft including sewing, knitting, weaving, cross-stitch and more! At the end of the week, campers will have plenty of projects to show off

their skills. Lauren Stetka is a teacher working with English language learners in Metro Nashville Public Schools and is excited to share her hobbies in this camp!

Itsy, Bitsy Spikers (Beginning Volleyball): Grades 3-4 $130

This camp will take the energy and excitement of volleyball, a great team sport, and put it all together for one fun-filled camp. We will focus on developing fundamental skills through game-based drills and fun activities and themes. Life lessons such as teamwork and sportsmanship will also be a focus. SCA parent and wellness teacher Margy Galassini has many years of coaching experience and will teach this camp.

Nashville Explorers: Grades 3-8 $150

Explore various attractions around Nashville on this field trip camp! Each day you will travel to places that make Nashville unique such as the Adventure Science Center, area parks, the Parthenon, and much more. The lead explorers for this camp will be SCA history teacher Sara Strobel ’01 and Margaret Pyburn ’93.

A Royal Court: Grades 6-8 $170

Girls will learn about famous royal families and queens from Ancient Egypt to today in this camp. We will be the perfect ladies-in-waiting and learn how to needlepoint and do embroidery. Other royal activities include jousting, manners, and learning about royal dress through the years. SCA junior high social sciences teacher Caroline Fulmer loved princesses and queens from a young age and is excited to teach this camp.

JUNE 12-16, 1-4 P.M.

Animal Explorer Camp: Grades K-2 $150

Come join the fun as we learn all about animals from the ocean to the jungle. We will read stories, make crafts, and participate in interactive experiences such as a safari, animal tracking, and ocean exploration. SCA alumna Catherine Bohren ‘18 teaches at Westmeade Elementary school and will lead this adventure.

U Go Girl!: Grades K-4 $170

The focus of this camp is a week filled with fashion, beauty, dancing, and crafts. There will be a pajama party, movie, and camp fashion show. Campers will have fun being a GIRL! Former Overbrook teacher and SCA alumna Jada Edmondson ‘85 will lead this camp.

Wonderful World of Art: Grades 1-4 $160

Campers will tour the globe with the camp theme and each day they will explore the art and cultures of a new continent. They will use clay, fibers, paint, paper, pastels, and other materials to create their own versions of art based on the traditions and cultures of each continent. This exploration of art will be led by Libby Goldammer who teaches art for home school students and volunteers at St. Edward School, including an after-school art club. Libby loves to paint and draw in her free time.

Bead Safari: Grades 2-5 $145

Get ready to load up your backpack with the coolest crit-

ter key chains! Last summer beading campers LOVED making bead animals by threading pony beads to make key chains galore! Lauren Stetka is a teacher working with English language learners in Metro Nashville Public Schools and is excited to share her hobbies in this camp!

Ready, Set, Play!: Grades 5-8 $140

This camp is for girls who love sports and physical games. Campers will play volleyball, kickball, dodgeball, capture the flag, SPUD, basketball, four corners and more as they exercise and develop team building in games and competitions. SCA director of student affairs Margaret Pyburn ’93 is a former PE teacher and excited to teach this camp.

Visual Journaling & Mixed Media Art: Grades 6-8 $170

Grab a sketchbook, paintbrush, and other mixed media and join us for this camp! Girls will learn the technique of visual journaling that incorporates visual art and writing together to create meaningful artworks. We will create mixed media artworks to showcase with a gallery show on Friday for families. SCA visual arts teacher Amie Pike will teach this camp.

JUNE 19-23, 9 A.M.-12 P.M.

Tippi Toes Dance Party: Grades PreK-2 $150

Tippi Toes® offers an exciting, fun and energetic Ballet, Tap & Jazz combo class for 4-6-year olds. Class begins

with warm-ups and stretching exercises and activities that encourage dancers to use their imagination while dancing. With our silly, fun, and engaging music students learn dances and choreography quickly. An end of camp show will be held on the last day of class.

Baking Creations: Grades 1-4 $160

Do you LOVE to bake and create? In this exciting camp, campers will combine baking in the kitchen and crafts you’ve always wanted to try! Each day brings a new adventure with daily themes.

SCA alumna Rose Tarwater ’18 teaches elementary school in Florida and is looking forward to returning to Nashville for this camp. Come join us for a creative baking experience and discover surprises & fun!

American Girl Camp: Grades

1-4 $165

Give My Regards to Broadway: Grades 4-8 $145

Campers will learn and perform select songs from Andrew Lloyd Weber’s beloved musicals including Cats, Phantom of the Opera. Evita, and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Girls will work on their singing voice and stage presence for a performance for family and

friends at the end of the week. Marcina Clark has taught music, handbells, and choir at Overbrook School for six years and in the music conservatory at SCA. She is excited to share her love of music with campers!

Advanced Volleyball: Grades 7-8 $130

This camp is geared towards volleyball players with experience. Each day the drills will develop specific skills leading up to a final day of competitive situations. The SCA head volleyball coach and current volleyball players will coach this camp.

Volunteer Service Camp: Grades 7-12 $130

Spend a week giving back to the Nashville community while earning service hours and making new friends. Service opportunities will be conducted at local service agencies, giving girls exposure to the many areas to pursue volunteerism. SCA registrar Deanna Kendall is passionate about service as a way to demonstrating Christian love to one’s neighbors and practicing good citizenship.

JUNE 19-23, 1-4 P.M.

Under the Sea: Grades PreK-1 $150

Dive into summer with a week full of ocean activities and crafts making mermaid tails and crowns, sea slime, ocean Playdoh, and more! SCA alumna Elizabeth Henard ’11 teaches kindergarten at St. Bernard Academy and will lead girls on this sea adventure.

Tippi Toes Hip Hop: Grades 1-4 $150

Tippi Toes® offers an exciting, fun and energetic Hip Hop/ Jazz dance class created especially for children 6-10 years of age. Using popular and current music, the students start learning dances and choreography quickly and various dance elements. Our version of hip hop/jazz is extremely tasteful and clean, and our priority is offering age-appropriate material. In class recital held on last day of class.

The Great Camp St. Cecilia Bake Off: Grades 3-5 $150

Calling all bakers! Join us as we create classic desserts with a creative flair in this camp! Girls will develop their baking skills with daily themes and friendly challenges just like the on-screen baking competition. SCA parent and wellness teacher Margy Galassini is excited to teach this camp!

All Skills Volleyball: Grades 5-6 $130

This camp will teach the fundamental skills of volleyball with drills to build with a new skill each day. The week will finish with a day of competitive situations and team-building activities. The SCA head volleyball coach and current volleyball players will coach this camp.

Once Upon a Musical: Grades 4-8 $150

Love musical theatre? Join us for a week of performing scenes, songs, and dances from beloved musicals which will be rehearsed during the week and performed on the last day of camp. St. Henry School musical producers Carol Ann Jones and Marie Smith have partnered for 15 years and will direct this camp.

DaVinci’s Divas: Grades 5-8 $170

Girls will learn to look at the world like Leonardo da Vinci in this applied science camp. Girls will unlock their own imagination, creativity and designs through activities that bridge art, science, technology and design. Campers will be challenged to dream and apply their unique talents to the task at hand, culminating in a presentation of best designs for parents and families at the end of the week. SCA junior high science and STEM teacher Jonathan Owen will bring his love of science, architecture, and art history to this camp of creativity!

JUNE 26-30, 9 A.M.-12 P.M.

Creative Dance Camp: Grades PreK-1 $140

This camp will be an introduction to dance and suitable for true beginners and students with some dance background. Campers will learn the basics of movement as it relates to dance in general and learn about different styles of dance through activities in ballet, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, and musical theatre dance. Improvisation skills will also be taught. Campers will also have a small craft project daily, along with fun worksheet activities to be put together in a “field guide.” This camp will be taught by Destiny Smith, SCA mom and studio director of Dance In Bloom.

Safari Adventure: Grades PreK-1 $155

Adventure awaits! Grab your binoculars, sun hat, and get ready for a fun week on our safari. Girls will spend the week learning about animals, making crafts, and going on a safari scavenger hunt. Your guide for this adventure is SCA alumna Elizabeth Henard ’11 who teaches kindergarten at St. Bernard Academy.

Rising Stars Theater Camp: Grades 1-3 $160

Dust off your dancing shoes and warm up your voices!

Girls in this camp will work on the fundamentals of musical theatre as they prepare for an end of the week performance of “Annie” for family and friends. All experience levels welcome and everyone will have an opportunity to shine. This camp will be directed by Overbrook parent Megan Crosswy who holds a degree in theatre from Vanderbilt University, choreographs musicals for area schools, and has performed in shows in the Nashville area since she was a child.

Camp JOY!: Grades 2-4 $75

Sugar Cookie Creations: Grades 5-7 $150

In this camp, girls will learn how to make roll and cut sugar cookies and how to decorate each cookie using royal icing. Each day campers will leave with delicious treats! Lauren Caldwell owns Balloon House Cookies and is excited to teach this camp!

Let's Learn Lacrosse!: Grades 5-8 $150

This camp is for any girl wanting to learn how to play lacrosse! All skill levels are welcome, from beginners to experienced players. We will learn the fundamental skills of lacrosse such as passing, catching, cradling, shooting, etc. while playing fun games and activities! At the end of the week we will put our skills together and play mini games. This camp will be led by head lacrosse coach, Chloe Page and members of the SCA high school lacrosse team.

JUNE 26-30, 1-4 P.M.

We’ve Got Spirit!: Grades 1-3 $160

This camp will be an introduction to the world of cheer and will be suitable for true beginners and students with a small amount of cheer background as well. Campers will learn the basics of cheer, including chants, arm motions, jumps, and cheer dance. Campers will also have a small craft project daily, along with fun worksheet activities to be put together in a cheer guide. This camp will be taught by Destiny Smith, SCA mom and studio director of Dance In Bloom.

Ring and Sing!: Grades 1-3 $140

Young campers will learn to play fun songs using rainbow-colored desk bells and chime bars. How many songs can be learned in one week? Sign up to find out! It’s a musical way to spend your day! Marcina Clark has taught music, handbells, and choir at Overbrook School for six years and in the music conservatory at SCA. She is excited to share her love of music with campers!

Broadway, Baby!: Grades 2-5 $150

Campers will dance to some of musical theater’s greats in this camp. From the classics to newly popular shows, girls will learn a variety of styles and work on their acting and performance skills. Throw on your dance shoes and come give your regards to Broadway! This camp will be taught by St. Cecilia Dance Academy instructor Maddie Williams. She has a degree in dance pedagogy and danced with Disney Cruise Line before moving to Nashville.

Musical Theatre Camp: Grades 4-8 $150

Acting, singing, and dancing—grow your “triple threat” skills in this camp! Campers will learn numbers from popular Broadway shows and develop a culminating performance for families at the end of the week. SCA theater director and drama teacher Katie Zakkak will direct this camp. She brings experience teaching at all grade levels in plays, musicals, and improvisation to this camp.
