Greetings and Welcome
to District 742’s Early Childhood Education Program.
On behalf of the entire Early Childhood Programs team, I’m excited to connect with you! Whether your child is joining our preschool program or participating in our ECFE classes, we’re thrilled to have you as part of our learning community. We offer Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) classes for parents/caregivers and children birth through prekindergarten, as well as Preschool classes for 3 and 4 year-olds.
We have a wide variety of Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) classes. Our ECFE program is designed to be a nurturing and supportive environment for both you and your young child. We believe that the most important teachers in a child’s life are their parents and caregivers. Our program aims to empower you with the knowledge and tools to foster your child’s social, emotional, and intellectual development. This catalog contains information and registration forms for our 2024-25 ECFE classes. I am sure we have a class offering you will be interested in. We have in-person classes for parents/caregivers and their children that are taught by our certified parent educators, however if you cannot make it in-person then check out our new virtual classes. You can register for any ECFE class online or call our school office at 320-370-8250.
We also offer preschool classes for 3 and 4-year-old children beginning Fall of 2024 and registration is happening now. Our 3-year-old preschool classes are held at Quarryview Education Center, Clearview and Kennedy, and our 4-year-old preschool classes are held at our elementary school sites. For more information on preschool or to register please refer to this catalog or contact our office at 320-370-8250.
Finally, we will be holding a variety of FREE family events throughout the year such as our Fall Festival, Spring Fling and our Run and Read where children ages birth to 5 have fun, learn and receive a free book! The schedule for these events can be found in our catalog or on our Facebook page.
I look forward to seeing you and your family at a class or at one of our family events!
With Warm Regards,
Kate Flynn Director of Early Childhood Education

Early Childhood Screening (for 3-4 year olds)
Minnesota law requires that all children must have a health and developmental screening before entering kindergarten in a public school.
Early Childhood Screening is a free check of how your child is growing, developing and learning. The screening includes a developmental assessment, vision and hearing testing, height and weight measurement and an immunization and health history review.
The purpose of this FREE screening is to identify children who may need additional time and experiences to be ready for school. The sooner we get started, the more likely your child will begin school with the necessary skills to succeed.

Parents and children birth to 5 (not yet in kindergarten) can come and play together in the gym and/or motor room, or in an ECFE classroom. ECFE staff are there to answer questions and provide a safe place to play. This is different than a class with a separate parent education and children education time. One of the primary goals in ECFE is to build relationships, particularly one on one parent and child. In order for this to happen, and out of respect for ALL families, please make other arrangements for infant siblings over 4 months of age in classes. We know this may be difficult, therefore we offer several classes for multiple children. Thank you for your understanding. *Birth to 5 classes include children who are 5 years old, but not in Kindergarten.
