WELCOME Welcome to Oldfield Forge. With our attention to detail and dedication to excellence, we produce the finest quality ironwork for both modern and traditional homes. Here at Oldfield Forge, we approach every project as an opportunity to create something unique and tailored to each individual clientâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s needs. We are a specialist traditional blacksmith company providing the highest attention to design detail and craftsmanship, keeping alive a long heritage of unrivalled English expertise. A selection of our practical and artistic ironwork is displayed in our showroom in Herefordshire, and we welcome visitors to view the collection. We also offer tours of the workshop, so you can see first-hand the care and detail we apply to all our bespoke hand-crafted ironwork. We also invite you to join us for a cup of tea in our show house where we hope the beauty of our ironwork in our family home will inspire you to be creative and innovative with your own space. However, if this is not feasible, then our website offers a glimpse of the various ranges of ironwork we offer.

ABOUT US Our Head Blacksmith and co-founder Aaron lives and breathes ironwork, pushing and creating new boundaries in metalwork, and recently completing a course with the National Heritage Ironwork Group (NHIG) in the Conservation of Architectural Ironmongery. Aaron is constantly exploring, and works to gain the most extensive knowledge and experience in ironwork. This also allows him to work with some of the leading architects, designers, specialist contractors, conservation experts, and prestigious properties in the country. Our Project Manager and co-founder Nicky is devoted to working with both the team and our customers to ensure Oldfield Forge Ltd 4

provides only the highest standard of service. We also have a team of extremely talented blacksmiths, who share our passion to design and produce outstanding quality craftsmanship. We design fine ironwork for a range of clients, and have built a reputation leading to work alongside National Trust projects, English Heritage, Cadw and many ecclesiastical buildings. We pay precise attention to detail and all of our bespoke ironwork can be made suitable for all situations and dimensions. Our handmade bolts have been carefully designed allowing swan neck bolts to be held in the up or down position with a positive fix. Unlike imported bolts, which rely on a spring mechanism, and as such cannot provide total security, our bolts offer the peace of mind of a secure fixture. 9

We also now offer sprung door handles. The mechanism works by returning the lever back to its natural horizontal position after depression. In contrast, an un-sprung door handle operates on the reliance of the door lock spring to return to its natural position. STAIR RODS Our stair rods and brackets are traditionally hand-made and can be tailored for both modern homes and older, rustic properties. Our standard stair rods are made from 1/2â&#x20AC;? (12mm) solid steel, individually beaten into shape and then given a protective coating to prevent rust. These stair rods are ideal for carpet runners, and we can hand-forge the rods to either a round, flat, or spherical shape.

COTSWOLDS STAIRCASE This piece was commissioned for a beautiful home in the Cotswolds. We worked with the customer from design through to installation, and this inspirational pattern was echoed throughout the rest of the interior of the house. A mix of intricate ironwork and stunning natural wood banisters created a completely unique statement staircase, which beautifully enriched the existing interior. The delicate pattern forged in iron is a stunning contrast to the light and airy house, bringing a sense of solidity and artistry to our customerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s home.

CHELSEA SHOW GATES We are very proud to have had the honour and privilege of working with Oak Leaf Gates to help celebrate the iconic RHS Chelsea Flower Show reaching its 100th anniversary. We produced these beautiful statement gates in honour of the show, with an intricate vine pattern hand-forged in iron. The delicate nature-themed ironwork perfectly compliments the stunning surroundings, and certainly invokes the tradition and beauty of the famous RHS Chelsea Flower Show. 80

RESTORATION & HERITAGE The craftsmanship in traditional ironwork is a great passion for us at Oldfield Forge, and we work alongside many historical and conservation societies to help restore heritage pieces. We specialise in all aspects of restoration and conservation of traditional and heritage ironwork, and have developed a formal relationship system to ensure that our work within the Forge is carried out to the highest ethical standard of the blacksmithing profession. Head Blacksmith Aaron and our small team of blacksmiths are extremely conscious of the responsibility to restore and preserve heritage ironwork. We believe the best conservation practice is to maintain as much original material as possible, and that any interventions must be reversible, if viable.

SHOP SIGNAGE The frontage of your property creates the important first impression of your business, and a distinctive and stylish sign can be the essential element in drawing in customers. Our made-to-measure shop signs are created as one-off pieces to perfectly compliment your business, and to ensure that not only the front of the business is in-keeping with your vision, but that all signage throughout the property is also enduring and stylish. We can create signage for the front of your property, as well as directional and informative signs for any other requirement. Please contact us for further details on commissioning your signs.

FINISHES Chrome Plated A high-shine modern and stylish finish that would bring a touch of elegance to any home, chrome plating is suitable for both interior and exterior conditions.

Ku-Rust This finish enhances the darkness of the steel and displays the beauty and quality of the hand-crafted ironwork to full effect, and gives a more natural look and feel than painting. This is a beautiful finish for interior pieces, however we do not recommend this finish for exterior use.

Linseed Oil A traditional finish dating back to the 18th century, linseed is used to preserve ironwork and is proven to be slightly more durable than traditional beeswax. We would only recommend this finish for interior use, as regular maintenance would be required for external pieces. This finish has similar characteristics to a beeswax finish, but with a more lustrous and clear appearance.

Beeswax To create this finish, the completed ironwork is heated in the fire and individually dipped into a hot liquid beeswax mixture. This is a traditional finish, recommended mainly for interior use, as exterior use requires the regular reapplication of wax. The finish is aesthetically pleasing to the eye, allowing the ironwork to showcase its natural appearance.

Rust This finish offers a rustic aesthetic, and can help bring a stylish industrial feel to any piece. A rust finish is suitable for both interior and exterior use, and is sealed with linseed oil or renaissance wax to retain the effect and prevent further rusting.

Galvanised & Acid Etched We recommend that all exterior ironwork be galvanised, as this protects the items from weathering and is virtually maintenance free. Galvanisation provides a high-lustre appearance, and we also offer the option for the product to be acid etched. This additional etching gives the ironwork a more natural, less lustrous look.

Painted This popular and durable finish is suitable for both interior and exterior use. We offer a range of paint choices, and can help you choose the one that is right for you. Please contact us for more information.

Wire Brushed & Laquered This option is brushed to a gunmetal style finish, before being sealed with matt lacquer. This finish is suitable for interior use only.

Grate Polish Suitable as a heat-proof natural finish and mainly used for fireside accessories, a grate polish will provide your ironwork pieces with a slight sheen, and will ensure their protection throughout usage.

Pewter This metallic paint is a high quality, solvent-borne, metalpigmented paint, and has enjoyed a reputation as the finest metal paint available since its establishment in 1972. The fastdrying formulation enables the system to be applied quickly with minimum disruption, and provides an excellent alternative to traditional methods. It also has a unique and classical gilt finish, with a range of metallic colours available. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, and if you are unsure as to whether this finish is suitable for your product, please do contact us for advice.

INFORMATION ORDER / AVAILABILITY Ordering couldnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t be easier. You can place an order by post, telephone, email or in person at our showroom situated in the beautiful countryside of Garway Hill in Herefordshire. All our products are bespoke and consequently delivery times can vary considerably. If your items are from our standard collection and are in stock then they will be delivered within 14 working days. However, if your products are being made to order, then due to the nature of our work, please allow up to six weeks for delivery. Rest assured that we will work to the best of our ability to meet your specific deadline.

DELIVERY We offer a delivery service direct to your door. Alternatively, customers are more than welcome to collect their ironwork in person and take the opportunity to browse our showroom.
