South Florida: Top Makeup Hacks for 2016 Hello and welcome again South Floridians and Snowbirds!!!
Happy New Year from the Staff at Salon Sora in Boca Raton, Florida. As we write this, it’s raining outside but this is South Florida.. just wait a minute or two and it will be beautiful again soon. So now that it’s 2016 we have our eyes open to some trends for the new year. Being in South Florida, we are a lucky bunch because this is where style and fashion starts and spreads around the world. Ready, set… Let’s go!! With every good eyeliner comes an even darker lip pencil. Wrong darling! This year in South Florida the makeup trends are screaming for pure and natural. Let 2016 be the year of the “minimalist” in everything we do. From the
way, we live to be organized and getting rid of the negative in our lives or the unwanted. In this post, we talk about some of the big makeup hacks that need to go. Some are a century old, and that’s where they want to stay in last century, not this one! So let’s look at some of the hacks from 2015 that don’t need to be carried out for another minute much less another year! Hack One: No more superplucked eyebrows! Eyebrows contour the shape of the eyes and frame them, but they’re unique. Try to avoid over plucking and forget about making them look like lines across your forehead. Seek more natural forms of accentuating the eyes. Use your eyebrow pencil and measure from the outer corner of the eye to the end of your eyebrow nearest your temple, this is where your eyebrow line should end. Next use the same pencil and measure from the nostril to the center of your eyebrow just past the pupil, where your arch is. Last complete the eyebrow points by using the eye pencil and connecting from the inner corner of the eye to the eyebrow, this is where your eyebrow begins. Lightly define with pencil or brush with powder, gently outline then use an eyebrow brush and comb it out. Then use an eyebrow gel to set it. The appearance should be light but defined and not look like the McDonald arches! Hack Two: Easy on the Bronzer. Bronzer is an excellent alternative in the heat and humidity but again don’t overdo it. Too much powder of any kind enhances your fine lines and flaws. It’s best to use just a sweep or two over the entire face and not place anything too heavy. Makeup not Cake Boss darling!! Hack Three: Leave your foundation in a stage drawer! Unlike the northern states, we live in Florida, and the heat and humid weather is not so kind on thick foundation and powder. Concealer? Well, that’s the same story. If you use too much of it, you’ll melt on most days in the hot sun. Most of your foundations, primers and concealers were manufactured to give you coverage, but a lot of them are being exposed to photography lighting, not the natural light. A great product for beautiful skin is Rodan and Fields made by the same women that created the skin care line ProActive. Developed for skin that is aging, the Rodan and Fields line can treat adult acne, but there are products specific to erasing fine lines, sunspots and a host of other problems. The point is to get comfortable with your skin, and the rest of you will radiate.
Sexy Ombre lips Hack Four: Ombre lips? This lipstick duo looks great on runway models. But for the everyday woman, it’s not always practical and is so two thousand and late! The Dark purple with the lilac is not always the most attractive. Don’t you know what an Ombre Lip is? Lovely ladies use a super dark pencil to define the lip and then use lighter colored lipstick in the middle, but the blending process can take a long time. If you have mature lips, think about selecting a product like Wet n Wild’s Mega Last Lip Color. Lips are meant to be enhanced and not exploited. Take precaution here.
The most luxurious lip treatment a woman can wear is a smile!
