What Is Email Marketing? It’s a form of direct marketing that uses email to send messages to a list of email addresses to sell, promote and inform the recipients. • Sign up with an Email Service Provider (ESP).
• Create emails to send to your email list. • Choose whether to purchase, rent or build a list. Images "Designed by makyzz / Freepik“
What Are Our Options? How are you going to get an email list to send your brand, products or services to? Generally there are three ways: • Purchasing – not recommended • •
Purchase from a reputable buyer/site. Ask yourself “Why is the list being sold” - spammy list, no buyers.
• Renting – not recommended • •
Ask yourself “If someone I didn’t know started sending me emails would I trust them and buy from them?” Rent from a reputable business/site.
• Building - recommended • •
Subscribers know who you are and trust you. Are happy to share your content/emails with others.

Sign up Boxes, Squeeze pages and Popup Boxes Oh My Stage 1: • Sign up Boxes •
Sign up boxes are small boxes on your site where readers can enter their email to receive something.
• Popup Boxes •
Popup boxes; these are boxes that pop up over the page offering something for an email address.
• Landing Pages •
Landing pages or squeeze pages are a whole page designed to get potential subscribers to give you their emails.
Catch and Release Those Emails Stage 2: • Content Marketing •
Creating content that readers will find valuable.
•
Creating blog posts.
•
Social media posts.
•
Creating video posts.
•
Share on sites and social media within your niche and write content and link to your site.
Release Those Emails Once you have caught or collected your subscribers you will have a “cold list” as generally no one in your list is ready to buy from you. • First/Welcome email, opportunity to introduce yourself. •
Explain what your subscribers can expect.
•
Have them whitelist your emails.
• Create email with value. •
Useful PDFs, checklists, guides.
•
No sales pitch just fresh content.
Release Those Emails Cont. • A loose rule to follow when starting with a new list is to send out 5-6 emails that provide value, educate or help your subscribers before sales pitching them. • Check your statistics, unsubscribes, open rates and click through rates.

Data Analytics Specifics & Segmenting Edit-”ing” Your list
Stage 3. It is important to analyse your email data, your ESP should provide complimentary analytics for you to do this. All the data is important but the 3 most important are, open rates, unsubscribes and click through rates (CTR). These email analytics are crucial and will give you very specific indicators to what you’re doing wrong. Make sure to keep an eye on these statistics; how do you know if something is wrong and how to fix it if you don’t pay attention to these analytics. Images "Designed by Jannoon028 / Freepik"
Take Action If they’re leaving after a certain autoresponder email, then re-work it. If they’re leaving after marketing messages, then re-work the way you present offers. If they’re leaving early on in your funnel, then you need to fix your original call to action so that it’s in harmony with what you’re sending.
List Segmentation •
The term segmentation is basically the practice of splitting up your email list into more targeted email list groups.
•
By segmenting your lists, you can send out emails prompting readers as to why they didn’t like or open your last email or what they thought or liked about a particular offer or pitch.
•
This also allows you to split test your email subject lines and content amongst different groups in order to review the results and refine them to create better results.
•
Segmenting can take up a bit of time but it is worth the trouble when you start seeing the results and build a list of buyers because you can identify and solve the problems of your lists subscribers.
A Conclusive List Having an email list is one of your most valuable resources, make sure to nurture and continually grow your list and you will create trustful customers, loyal readers or enthusiastic advocates.
How much is a customer worth to you and what would that mean financially if several hundred unsubscribe. If you create a strong list of buyers it is a win-win for both parties. Images "Designed by Freepik"
