hen Le XV first landed here 17 years ago, its unprecedented levels of black fruit flavour and silky texture made it an instant hit. Key to that intensity of flavour are ancient Grenache vines, grown high in the Pyrenees. The big (very BIG!) news this year is that the fruit was picked exclusively from the village of Maury - the home of “thunderously powerful Grenache” (Andrew Jefford, The New France). Plus, in 2007, thanks to even less rainfall than usual (this is officially France’s driest region), yields were so low, and the wine so concentrated that Le XV’s winemakers rate it better than Type: the famously good 2000 vintage - we heartily agree!

Instead, remembering his training, the young man immediately started to give his stricken father cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) treatment, which helped keep him alive until paramedics arrived. Mitchell said: “When I saw what was happening, instinct took over. Since I’d taken two Red Cross first aid courses, at school and with the army cadets, it was all quite fresh in my mind. I gave my dad CPR until the ambulance came and the paramedics took over. A young first aid hero able to save his Gary’s was Story father’s life following a heart attack, thanks to his Red Cross first aid training.
Read David’sFifteen-year-old Story Mitchell Holmes, from Southampton, did not
panic when his dad collapsed with a heart attack. Instead, remembering his training, the young man immediately started to give his stricken father cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) treatment, which helped keep him alive until paramedics arrived. Mitchell said: “When I saw what was happening, instinct took over. Since I’d taken two Red Cross first aid courses, at school and with the army cadets, it was all quite fresh in my mind. I gave my dad CPR until the ambulance came and the paramedics took over. Why, oh why do the bookies not use decimal odds? They’re so much easier. With decimal odds there are no weird fractions. All you have to do is multiply you stake by the odds to get your return. So a back bet with a £10 stake at odds of 4.0 returns £10 x 4.0 = £40. That’s a £30 profit and your £10 stake back. Easy. No more working out the difference between 13/8 and 7/4. Decimal odds are the way forward.
