Because this area in specif is a forestall area the importance of having a house that involved nature was the most relevant to the client. He wanted an opened house with massive windows so he could be connected with nature all the time.

A building designed and constructed for a real estate office. We reduce natural light using metallic blinds that captured the sun’s rays and also block the rain. This allowed us to have the windows open day and night for natural winds, reducing the use of air conditioners.

This house has a lot of natural light, green roofs, green walls and materials like stone. Between the spaces of the house you could always find yourself in an open space with plants or water. This project in particular was the first one having solar heaters.

INTEGRATED URBAN PROJECT
Eight street axis- scenic axis
YEAR: 2013 LOCATION: Cali, Colombia CLASS: Integral project II WORK TIME: 4 months The project has two phases: 1. Whole group analysis at different scales 2. Personal proposal project PHASE ONE: SITE AREA: 10.293m2 Along the eighth street in the center of the city of Cali, a “scenic axis” is proposed to renew and rehabilitate the surrounding area of the sector. This street is enabled as a main picker and a connector where different institutional buildings are placed from its beginning to its end. The aim is to generate an urban dynamism in the area to return to the sector the importance of the center of Cali had in the past.

PHASE TWO: COMMERCE AND HOUSING AREA: 886m2 This project consists of a bazaar (commerce) on the first floor and a housing area on the following floors with the idea of densifying the urban area through the mixticity of uses. This block uses the existing gaps of the parking lots and dwellings. In addition, the facades of heritage interest are reused.

Environmental urban recovery of the Cauca River
YEAR: 2012 LOCATION: Cali, Colombia CLASS: Projects V: Architecture, city and region WORK TIME: 4 months

TYPE C
The project has three phases: 1. Whole group analysis at different scales 2. Proposed master plan by groups of 3 classmates: Maria Alejandra Caicedo, Maria Paula Rico and Stefania Palacio. 3. Personal proposal project PHASE ONE: SITE AREA: 17 KM CAUCA RIVER This urban complex project is located along the 17km of the Cauca River. In this complex a regional, urban, zonal and local analysis and intervention strategies are presented at different architectural scales. The aim is to finally generate a pertinent solution to the social issues of the illegal invasion in the riverside through user replacement, household proposals, public space and institutional buildings including a conservative environmental system. PHASE TWO: EDUCATIONAL AND CULTURAL CENTRALITY AREA: 45.000m2 The project proposes a new educational and cultural centrality, where the Cauca River is the environmental axis and link with the city and the region. This series of institutional buildings arises from the lack of educational and cultural public facilities in the area. On the other hand a full floodplain area was the major determinant in architectural design. PHASE THREE: EDUCATIONAL CENTRALITY AREA: 16.344m2 The educational centrality has a university area that seeks as a main character to make up for the lack of educational facilities in the city and in the area in particular. Allows the surrounding population (15.000 students) to have an improvement in their quality of life the higher educational level through academic and research programmes.
