welcome to ocean city

THERE’S JUST SOMETHING ABOUT OCEAN CITY. You know what we’re talking about. It’s got a mystique, a lure, a siren call... whatever you want to call it – the island beckons. And once you’re here, whether you drove eight hours or eight minutes, you breathe the salt air, lower your shoulders with every inhale, and smile, because you know you’ve arrived.

Welcome.

Ocean City is eight miles of clean, wide beaches (some of the finest in the world), the two-and-ahalf-mile Boardwalk, the Downtown Asbury Avenue shopping district, the inviting bay where you can play all day on the water, plus all the unique neighborhoods throughout the island. From the northern tip in the Gardens neighborhood, to the South End and everything in between, there are loads of nooks and crannies to explore while you’re on island time.

Cruise down Haven Avenue’s bike path, hang ten in a surf lesson, or set sail from the yacht club... an Ocean City vacation is filled with outdoor adventure (as much or as little of it as you’d like).

No matter where you are in OC, there’s always something cool to see or do nearby... beaches, Boardwalk, big-city shopping, delish dining, a municipal airport, golf course, recreational fields, special events, family festivities, we’re talking endless possibilities here. Together with the expansive Community Center – housing the Arts Center, Historical Museum, Aquatic and Fitness Center (with an indoor salt water pool) and Free Public Library, there’s the pink Music Pier (home of the Ocean City Pops and Greater Ocean City Theatre Company performances), the Bayside Center and more. Whether you’re here for a day, the week, or perhaps the rest of your life, you’ll never be bored.

Speaking of boards, running from St. James Place to 23rd Street is the Ocean City Boardwalk, a two-and-a-half-mile stretch lined with shops and restaurants of every kind, amusement rides, miniature golf courses and a water park. Take a trip up to the boards at night and the party continues... the Boardwalk has entertainment nightly, shops and restaurants are open late and there’s Mummers Night and Family Night.

Asbury Avenue and the Downtown Shopping District from 6th to 14th streets is a destination. The Historic Downtown has over 100 shops and cafes, plus there are awesome finds on the neighboring side streets. Head Downtown on a Tuesday or Thursday from 10am-1pm for Market Days and Funtastic Tuesdays. And on Wednesdays, head to the Farmers Market on the Tabernacle grounds. Continuing toward the west is the Great Egg Harbor Bay where you’ll find every water sport imaginable including kayaking, sailing, boating, fishing, crabbing, SUP, and more. There are great opportunities to see pristine ecosystems up close and personal.

If stepping onto the sand for a chill beach day is your go to, remember to swim near a lifeguard. The OCBP is an award-winning organization designed to keep you safe. Take advantage.

Sit back, relax, let this book show you the adventures that await, and the sweet restaurants and shops just waiting to serve you. With a smile, naturally.
