ENGLEWOOD COMMUNITY CENTER
Englewood is a poor community of Chicago where the population is concerned about the exposition of their children to the criminality of that place. Because of that I decide to project a community center where it should be a place for families to enjoy their life without being concerned about their safety. Also, it would have a psycologycal area focused in families’ problems. This psycological area would be connected with a free day-care, where the parents could leave their children during the day. The materials and the number of floors were choosen following the materiality and medium height 0f the community around, so the building is composed basically by metal panels at the first floor and concrete panels with stucco at the second floor.

RESIDENTIAL DÉCORATIFS
Redential DĂŠcortifs is located in one of the main streets of Santa Maria, RS, Brazil. One interesting characteristic of this street is that there are approximately twenty two houses in the Art DĂŠco style. For this reason, I decided to choose an element which repeated along almost all the houses. After that, I distorted this element to make the illusion of tall towers. To increase the illusion between each tower, I applied stone slate at the base and in the end of the towers in diferents heights. The windows are continuos from the base to the top to intensify the illusion of height.

LIFE CYCLE JAPANESE FAST-FOOD
Life Cycle is a kioske that was supposed to stay in front of Osaka Garden, at Jackson Park, Chicago, IL. This place does not have any infrastructure to attend the people who want to go there to practice sports or to visit Osaka Garden. Therefore, Life Cycle is not just an kioske but a place where people can sit, have some traditionals japanese snack and have access to public restrooms. The building represents the meanings of a japaneses garden: life cycle. I made a few research about the topic and one of the main elements is the water. It means the life and all the problems which we will pass through. For this reason, the design is inspired by the turbulence of a stream of water to simbolize the begin and the end of a life by the smallest parts and the middle is life with the problems simbolized by the height parts. The materials were chosen to be as natural as posible, so I used bended wood and waterproof fabric.

The concept was born from the desire of making a place where KU students could sit and enjoy a cozy space. The first thought that my group had was a cave and its wall could almost hug the person who is sitting there. Then, we played with the shape making the middle rougher and the extremities smoother. After we finish the design, we divided the wall to cut in a robotic arm and then build on the bridge that connects the architecture and design buildings to the campus.

VIA LITERÁRIA EPHEMERAL ARCHITECTURE
“Via Literária” is a project designed to bring culture to the streets of Santa Maria, RS - Brazil. One city that was already known as a railway town back on 60’s. I chose an container to symbolize the railways of the city, this way it would work as a wagon that brings wisdom to the population. This container can be opened and then become a stage to outdoor theater and music concerts or a place where you can sit and have a peaceful reading.
