MULTIVIEW DRAWINGS OF FAVORITE BUILDING
This is the Apple store located at Union Square, San Francisco. It is a public space where everyone can go inside and experience its modern design. The front giant facet is transparent that enables natural light and communication with exterior.
PERSPECTIVE
Strengths: the project enables me to perceive a building in different ways regarding its shape and how its space functions. Weaknesses: Because the ground is not leveled, i was having trouble measuring its dimension. Opportunities: it encourages me to explore other Apple stores in different location and ROOF
learn about their construction concepts. Risks: ---

GROUP TINY HOUSE PLAN (TAPING EXERCISE)
It is a group project. We are asked to design and tape a floor plan of a tiny house. Strengths: the project enables us to practice how we should utilize a space and grow a sense of how big a building is when we merely look at its numerical dimension. Weaknesses: the space is really limited. Opportunities: it encourages us to participate more in group project and learn to communicate and cooperate. Risks: because it doesn't have many walls, it is hard to have privacy.

PERSPECTIVE
It is a basic skill to achieve repetition in sketchup. Also, it gives us an idea of using components, for components enable us to alter some elements effectively.

Strengths: to create different styles of tiles Weaknesses: can’t tell when things overlap Opportunities: to create repetition Risks: exaggerating decorative
DOGHOUSE EXERCISE
It is a practice combining what we have learned about Sketchup. Strengths: the skill save more time than freehand drawing a structure. Weaknesses: --Opportunities: it provides more opportunities to create imaginary structure. Risks: we might create something unpractical.
TINY HOUSE SKETCHUP PROJECT
My concept of a tiny house is that it is a private personal space where people feel safe and comfortable. When I imagine which tiny house would make people living there feel more private, the one that we are able to see everything in one single space or the one that has living room, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom individually, i would say the one which has individual functions is more likely to achieve privacy.
Strengths: there are not many walls, but privacy is still created. The windows are not lined up, so people cannot see through the space. The bathroom is completely individual. Weaknesses: there is no enough space for furnitures. Opportunities: it is affordable for most people, because it is small and simple. It might be good for traveling if it is made movable. Risks: it might not survive bad weather and natural disaster like earthquake.
TOOL / IMPROVED TOOL PROJET: COFFEE TAMPER
ORIGINAL TOOL -The original tamper is made of wood and steel, which is kind of heavy. -Vacuum effect: when the tamper is push into an espresso basket, there is no space for air to escape. Accordingly, a barista cannot exert force vertically. When espresso in a basket is not leveled, espresso cannot be extracted evenly.
NYLACAST POLYACETAL (POM-C) Strengths: the improved version has lighter weight and is able to eliminate vacuum effect. Weaknesses: might not be heavy enough for some people to exert force. Opportunities: enables baristas to work efficiently. Risks: the material might not be ideal to deal with food.
STEEL
Practice modeling the original tool by using "push and pull" "create arch" and "follow me".

MID-CENTURY ARCHITECTURE: RONCHAMP CHAPEL BY LE CORBUSIER
The building I choose for my project is the Ronchamp Chapel, designed by Le Corbusier. It is a Roman Catholic chapel in Ronchamp, France. Built in 1954, it is one of the finest examples of the architecture of Franco-Swiss architect Le Corbusier and one of the most important examples of twentieth-century religious architecture. I appreciate the complexity of the building. The majority of the building is combined with curvy walls and made by concrete. The entire structure is asymmetrical and there is no repetition. From my perspective, Ronchamp is definitely compelling.
Strengths: I learned how I should simplify a complex structure in my mind, trying to understand individual pieces, such as floor plan, walls, window wall, roof. Weaknesses: The structure was too complex to understand as a first time project. There are too many curves involved and no repetition. Also, it is asymmetrical. Opportunities: The complexity of the structure allowed me to overcome many difficulties when I was modeling in sketchup. Also, it let me explore more modeling techniques. Risks: The structure I modeled is not exactly the same as the original one. I missed many details, because of limitation of time and lack of modeling skills and experiences.
INNOVATIVE RONCHAMP CHAPEL
The walls basically maintain the same language in regard to their curvy shapes. Thus, the only piece I want to make it more perfect is the roof, for it looks thick and heavy to me, and it is hard to be interpreted. Thus, I decide to create another shape for the roof.
Strengths: My ideal of the improved roof is that it is thinner and wavy. Regarding the light movement on the roof, it provides another visual sensation from both inside and outside of the building. Now the roof looks like a cloth that placed on the top of the building and there is rhythm of its wavy shape which enhances a natural harmony with the surroundings. Weaknesses: The improved roof still looks thick, because i did not consider the concept of my improvement until I finished modeling in sketchup. Opportunities: It was a good practice for me to recollect the whole process of modeling and to recognize the good and bad of its structure. Risks: The improved roof might collect water in rainy days.
