Settings for AMA linking and Transcoding Media in AMC8 1) In Media Composer, link your Masters using AMA linking (refer to your class notes) 2) To transcode your linked media in a editing-friendly media (Proxy) in Media Composer, rightclick on your AMA Linked media, and select : Consolidate / Transcode 3) Make sure that your transcoding settings are set as follows:

Select: Source Dimensions

IMPORTANT Select: Keep source’s frame rate DO NOT ever select: Convert to Project Frame Rate If you get an error message, see next page.

Select Your Working external drive

Select a Proxy Resolution (Either DNxHR LB - SQ - HQ HQX)* * Proxy: Editors create Proxy files for the purpose of editing. Proxies are low-resolution copies of the Masters and must only be used as editing material within Media Composer. A Proxy file must never be used as projection media, because the image quality is simply not good enough. Once the work is picture-locked in Media Composer, then editors relink their Sequence to their Masters via AMA Relink.

Click Transcode Select : Transcode
