I have decided to use this illustration that I had done earlier as a logo for The Art Group. I wanted to use the illustration because I felt it gave the feeling of art and creativity. I also used this image because it is fairly simple and would be easy to recognise as a label. I used the “sketchy” font because I felt it fit well with the illustrated paintbrush. At this stage I think this design is too simple and too bland. I also feel that the text is hard to read because it all looks like one word.

I wanted to add a paint splatter to give the logo a more creative look and also to make it look more interesting. I felt that my initial idea was too bland and not memorable enough. I still think that this design is too bland however and will try to add more colour in the next stage of my idea developments.
I wanted to add colour to this design to give a greater sense of creativity and also to make it more memorable and interesting to look at. I have used different colours behind each word to make them easier to read and to make them look more separated from each other. For the first idea on this page, I wanted to experiment by removing the colour of the paint brush to see if it stood out clearer against a coloured background. However, I felt that the paintbrush would get lost if this logo was used against a white background, even with the colour surrounding it.
I felt that the second design was more successful. I duplicated the original paintbrush and then added the “find edges” filter to the new layer. This gave the paintbrush a darker outline which I felt helped it stand out more against the background.
I have made the shade of blue of lighter because after asking several people they said it was difficult to read the word “art” against the dark blue background. I think this works well as a logo because it’s simple and recognisable.
