www.am2013.ifmsa.cl
On March 6th, 2003, Chile became part of the international work in hand to the International Federation of Medical Students’ Association – IFMSA, forming IFMSA – Chile. Since that date, it earn representation between medical students, conforming by 24 medical schools from north to south of the country, which of this work together for the federation. In March 2006, Chile was host of the March Meeting with the theme “Extreme poverty and hunger’s eradication. Pointing in health access and poverty: medical students’ initiative”. In that opportunity more than 600 medical students from all over the world come to Chile and it helps to improve the positioning of IFMSA Chile around the world and to obtain more presence in faculties and medical schools of the country and it students. With the same spirit, PAMSA’s countries select us to host the Pan-American Medical Students Association Regional Meeting 2010, with the presence of more than 200 medical students from the 15 NMO members of PAMSA, and the theme was: “Inequity and social work in health: generating tools for change”. So, when we’re past 10 years of the beginning of this dream that we called IFMSA Chile, it’s time to make history for us… again, so we assume the challenge to invite all NMO members to live a life-changing experience, to knowing a unique and wonderful country, full of mystery and places that you can’t found in other place.
then... let’s get this party started! Hoping to see everyone at Viña del Mar! 62nd General Assembly Organizing Committee
Motivation Letter why Chile?

Dear IFMSA Officials and NMO’s With the greatest spirit and energy we present to you IFMSA Chile’s Candidature for August Meeting 2013 in Viña del Mar. Since 2012 the organizing committee and all of the motivated national members have been working hard to develop a good and according to federation needs proposal for the 62nd General Assembly. On the map, Chile looks like a long, narrow strip of land, with a length of over 4,000 kilometers and an average width of 177 kilometers. In Viña del Mar, country's central region, the peaks of the Cordillera de la Costa impede the flow of the marine climate, and the wall formed by the Andes seals off continental influences. The theme that we propose is “i-health: technology-based medicine. Bringing the future into the present”. Through this thematic pretend to be discussed during the meeting on MDG number 8, relating to access to new technologies. However, in recent years we have been confronted with a whole new area of medical knowledge, which is no longer just in books, but also present in various technological devices available today. Therefore, we focus directly on those who are employed and looking for used in the health area, as well as access to medical knowledge obtained through mobile devices. We have all agreed with the Panamericana Hotel O’Higgins in Viña del Mar, as our venue. This hotel has all the amenities to develop an assembly line with the standards for the size of the event. It's all arranged for attendees to known Chile at its best both in pre-GA, post-GA, as well as the assembly itself. We hope you like our proposal. Best regards, 62nd General Assembly Organizing Committee

It's a hub for business tourism, with five-star hotels, world-class centers for events and conferences, and luxury dining areas. An important factor for winter visitors is the snow and the major ski centers in the Andes, which can be found less than an hour from Santiago. Enthusiasts of winter sports like skiing, snowboarding, off-run skiing, heli-skiing and cross-country skiing can take advantage of a complete range of facilities, hotels, inns and daily transportation options. The ski centers offer equipment rental, ski schools, patrol service and excellent conditions on runs for all skill levels. “i-health: technology-based medicine. Bringing the future into the present. The information and communication technologies are transforming health systems and services, leading to solutions that would be unthinkable decades ago. Different applications of technology have allowed revolutionize health management, continuing medical education and the quality and efficiency in diagnostic and therapeutic methods. Among the technologies used in healthcare, mobile technology is one of the most challenging and opportunities to generate an increase in health at the global level, especially for developing countries.
The technological breakthrough allows our society experience generating multiple opportunities to improve the quality and accessibility of health on our planet, especially in the poorest and most isolated. It is a fact that in all developing countries, in quantitative terms, there are over 2,200 million mobile phones and 350 million personal computers, but only 11 million hospital beds. This is an opportunity to leverage this technology to cover and promote health in various fields, from collecting and recording information about patients to the formation of rural practitioners, through the customization of how patients receive medical treatment. This is the new challenge facing us all. Therefore, we must be leaders and active participants in the dissemination and implementation of the solutions offered by technology. This is why we believe we can offer you the opportunity to acquire knowledge and develop skills on this theme, surround ourselves with the wonderful beauty that offers Chile, this time in the beautiful city of ViĂąa del Mar.
