ARROYO RESIDENCE KITCHEN RENOVATION
CLIENT PROFILE Carolina and Rosario Arroyo live in a single multi-level family home located in a serene neighborhood in Des Plaines, Illinois. Caro and Chayo (for short) share a unique father daughter relationship. Carolina spends the weekends at her dad’s house, and every minute counts, they bike ride, bake, watch movies, play video games, do arts and crafts, and paint. Chayo has been living in his home for 21 years, and in those years the home has not overcome any extreme make overs aside from paint jobs and one bathroom renovation. The homes’ style has been lost over the years and it is time for new moderations. The home has been a great investment and regardless if he keeps it or not, he is determined to renovate the home. Rosario isn’t concerned of the aesthetics for the kitchen but he is aware the kitchen needs serious modifications and updates. So, with that in mind designing the kitchen to accommodate him and his daughter are key factors.
02
DESIGN STATEMENT The kitchen layout is to remain the same, this will allow for the preexisting plumbing and electrical to keep being utilized. All appliances are to be replaced with energy sufficient, stainless steel products and only the refrigerator is to be relocated. Removing the soffits allow for more storage place as tall cabinets can be placed to store away electrical appliances. Solid quartz surfaces are to replace the countertops as more space has been a reinforcement. All finishes and fixtures have been chosen to create a warm color scheme. To complement the soft color palette and neutral finishes of the, kitchen cabinets are to be replaced with a soft oak wood.

CLIENT PROFILE The Anderson’s household retains seven family members, George, whom is married to Sheila and their children, Patrick, Anthony and Anita. Sheila’s mother, Anna who recently moved in after her husband passed away. Finally, their pup buddy has become an addition to the family. The family has been living in this multi-level home for the past 13 years and they have concluded and decided upon a home renovation. The original floor plan was a 3 bedroom home, in which the Andersons fit just fine. Although, as the children get older Sheila and George are concerned that they will each need their privacy. Also, since Anna moved in she has occupied her own personal suite. An additional accessible bedroom is to be included to suit Anna’s needs. In addition, the family would like to add another 8 rooms total to their home
DESIGN STATEMENT The new remodeled home has been accommodated so that each family member can retreat to their own personal space. The use of built in storage has been a major key point of this house. With personalized touch and detail the storage spaces have become an accentuating piece to the home. The areas create a well-structured home with a warm inviting environment for everyone. Use of neutral earth tone colors throughout the space accomplish a smooth flow from room to room. Generating the new layout, it was decided to have an open concept allowing for great family bonding. Structured lighting is spread throughout allowing for easy adjustments as needed. Finalizing the plan, each family member was able to get their wished space and thy have been happy with the outcome.
