Banana Crush

................. 2 c. sugar 5 c. water 2 c. bananas (4-6) 1/2 c. lemon juice 1 can frozen lemonade 1 can frozen orange juice Boil sugar and 2 cups water for 3 minutes and cool. Add bananas, lemonade, orange juice and 3 cups water. Freeze over night. Crush and serve with 7-Up or Sprite in a glass.

Caramel Popcorn

................. 6-10 c. popcorn 1/2 c. butter 1/2 c. Karo syrup 1 c. brown sugar 1 tsp. baking soda

Mix together butter, karo sryup, and brown sguar in a sausepan. Bring to a boil. Stir in baking soda. Remove from heat immediately. Pour over already popped corn. For less sticky caramel popcorn, spread on a cookie sheet and let air dry.

Chili Sauce

................. 24 tomatoes 7 onions 6 green peppers 2 tbs. salt 2 c. sugar (or more) 1 tbs. cinnamon

1 tbs. allspice 1 tsp. cloves 2 c. vinegar

Add all ingredients in a big pot and cook until thick. Then go through the canning process. This is a well guarded family recipe, you’ll have to ask grandma for some pointers on this one!

Peanut Brittle

................. 2 c. sugar 1/2 c. water 1 c. Karo syrup 2 c. raw spanish peanuts 1 tsp. salt 3 tbs. butter

2 tsp. vanilla 2 tsp. baking soda candy thermometer

Measure all ingredients and have close at hand before starting. Combine sugar, water and Karo syrup and cook to 230 degrees. Stir at all times. Add peanuts and cook to 285 degrees, stiring constantly. Remove thermometer. Add salt, butter and vanilla. Cook until butter melts. Remove from heat, quickly stir in baking soda. Pour out on buttered cookie sheet, let spread by its self. Let cool and break into pieces and store in a gallon plastic bag.

Summer Salad

................. 1 bag frozen peas 1 16oz box small sea shell noodles 1 12oz can tuna half head of lettuce 1 to 2 c. Mayo (to taste) 1 to 1 1/2 c. sugar (to taste) Mix together cooked noodles, cooked peas, tuna and diced lettuce, set aside. Mix Mayo and sugar in a small bowl. Mix sauce and ingredients together. Refrigerate for one hour.

Texas Sheet Cake Brownies

................. 2 cubes margerine 1 c. water 3 tbs. cocoa 2 c. flour 1 1/2 c. sugar 2 eggs

tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. vanilla 1/2 c. milk 1/3 c. sour cream (optional) 1/2

Bring to a boil margerine, water and cocoa. Mix together flour, sugar, eggs, salt, baking soda, vanilla, milk and sour cream (optional). Pour boiled mixture into the second mixture and beat well. Bake in a 16x20 ungreased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Frosting: In a bowl, mix together 6 tbs. milk, 1/2 c. margerine, 3 tbs. cocoa, 1 tbs. vanilla and 3 c. powdered sugar. Spread on cooled brownies.

Zucchini Bread

................. 3 c. flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 3/4 tsp. baking soda 4 eggs

1 c. oil 2 c. sugar 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla 2 c. grated zucchini 1 c. walnuts 1 c. raisins

Mix together flour, salt, cinnamon, baking powder, baking soda and set aside. Beat eggs, oil, sugar and vanilla. Add dry ingredients and stir. MIx in grated zucchini, walnuts and raisins. Bake in greased, lightly floured loaf pans at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean.
