Bremner House Site Design
Master Plan
This group project included designing a multi-recreational family friendly site which incorporated year round use, suitable for all ages. The focus of the design was centered on educating children on local agriculture in a fun and meaningful way. The community garden contains 16 large beds, with a wash station and central gazebo. Raised beds were also incorporated for disability access. Lighting is located throughout the site to enhance night visibility and site atmosphere. This site is multi-functional as it may hold weddings, ceremonies, plays, and other similar events and year round recreation such as skating.

Guelph Innovation District Site
By: Sarah Solonenka, Victoria Brown, Stephanie
The Guelph Innovation District is located just north of the University of Guelph. The theme of the site was to create a sustainable living, mixed use neighborhood. The design included a multitude of residential types, commercial, industrial, a central LRT station, grocery store and farmer’s market. This LEED accredited site includes 30+ median bioswales, many green pathways, 4 community gardens and a central greenway connecting the university’s arboretum to the district.

NAIT Revilitization Project Analysis
NAIT Revilitization Project Master Plan
Master Plan Design This design includes multiple site functions for year round use. The property boundary is a 1/4 of an Alberta land section. The vast amount of space allowed the group to incorporate multiple activities which connected fluidly through the site. 3 parking lots guarantee ease of access to site activities. A fire pit and gathering is located centrally for site visitors to gather as a community. The 10 Km of crushed gravel trails were incorporated throughout the site to allow multiple recreational activities such as biking, walking, skiing and snowshoeing. These 2.5m pathways also allow maintenance or emergency access vehicles throughout. In the southwest corner, 9 wilderness campsite are tucked away within their own private space but still within safe distance of another. The overall design combined many aspects the client proposed, such as the 7 hole disc golf course, the archery range, the fishing pond, the mountain bike terrain park and a zip line. This adventurous design is sure to appeal to the senses of all visitors.

NAIT Entry Feature From hand rendered concepts to a final detailed design, this NAIT Entry Feature would be a great asset to NAIT’s main front entrance. It complements NAIT’s overall image, as well as the existing architecture nearby. The materials used are a light colored concrete and aluminum to match the existing buildings. Two different shades of blue are used to complement NAIT’s official colors in the aluminum lettering and decorative front elements. A prebuilt lamp is attached to enhance night time visibility.

University of Alberta St. Joseph’s College A hand rendering of a proposed landscape plan during my summer internship at Stantec Consulting Ltd. It was presented to the client to visually communicate the changes recently incorporated into the design. Mature existing trees were kept, and some were added to future parking areas. Shrubs along the site boundary provided a privacy screen. The design incorporated the Universities’ existing mature landscape style resulting in a well balanced design.

A Culinary Vegetable Space with Maximized Sun Exposure
Perspective#1 Vegetable Beds View
Perspective#2 View Looking West
From holding professional meetings to teaching children’s education, this design incorporates many functional and aesthetic features. This culinary garden was designed to harvest as many vegetables as possible, and to collect honey from a functional bee hive. The vegetable beds contain multiple levels for ease of harvesting, and to take advantage of maximum sun exposure. A vertical wall on the north wall also contains 48 soil pockets for leafy vegetables.

Meewasin Trail Redevelopment The Meewasin Trail in Saskatoon,Saskatchewan is under the legislation of the Meewasin Valley Authority. As seen in this perspective, demonstrated graphically was the decision to twin the pathway to provide more room for pedestrians and cyclists, as well as protect the existing mature trees.
