Welcome to the Shorthorn 500 Production Sale, It is with great enthusiasm that I welcome you to the pages of the 2014 Shorthorn 500 Sale Catalog. My how things have changed over the past year. There are many things to give you a great reason to be with us on October 25 in Marietta, Oklahoma. First off, in the 11th running of the Shorthorn 500, our sale sponsors have made continuous progress in breeding, raising and offering to you a high quality offering Shorthorn genetics in the form of Herd Bulls, Show Heifers, Bred Cows & Heifers, Fall & Spring Pairs. This particular offering takes us to new heights in terms of proven bloodlines and quality cattle. Secondly, the beef cattle market is setting records every day with new highs established on a weekly basis on feeders, fats & breeding stock alike. Third is the Moisture; many parts of our cattle country are in the best shape they’ve been in for several years, with abundant feed supplies. This represents the most promising time I have ever seen in the purebred beef business. There’s never been a better time to invest in quality Shorthorn cattle. A feature of this year’s sale will be the complete & total dispersion of the Blisful Acres Shorthorn Herd. Bill & Katie Bliss made their initial purchases at the 2013 Shorthorn 500 Sale and added several very good females from Fischer Cattle Company, Great Bend, Kansas among others. Life isn’t always fair as Bill passed unexpected in January. With the difficulty of getting and retaining quality herds people, Katie felt it was too demanding to continue the Shorthorn breeding program without Bill’s guidance, thus it will be your opportunity to add these great individuals to your own breeding programs. If I can provide can any additional information about the cattle, consignors, or potential transportation arrangements, please feel free to contact me at any time. Sincerely, Alan Sears Sears Marketing Services, LLC

Selling two-thirds interest and full possession. Retaining a 6.5 Milk one-third in herd semen interest. If you’re truly interested in 43 MW breeding Shorthorn cattle, you should consider a bull like Discovery. He has done exactly what we wanted in our herd. 2.5 MCE He left us with some replacement heifers that are easy fleshing, deep bodied, sound and an outcross to most. He is easy calving and we have used him on our heifers the last three years. He has as good a foot as you can find. It’s hard to find an older, proven herd sire of this quality. His first daughters will calve for us next spring and we are excited about what they will add to our herd. Alden Farms

Mr. Colt was 42 MW selected Grand Champion Bull at the 2014 National Junior -9.0 MCE Show, Louisville, Kentucky. Everybody that has seen him has really liked his added stoutness while staying very sound. He is as big middled as you can make one and he is still very good through his front end. He had an actual birth weight of 63 pounds out of a show heifer. He has a super attitude and as an added bonus has kept more hair this summer than any yearling bull I have ever been around with out ever being in a cooler. Ryan Lane
