SETTLEMENT AND DELIVERY All bulls must be paid for on sale day. You may take your bull home that day. Bull Delivery is free within 150 miles. The rest will be at Cost. To keep bulls at the Bull testing facility will be $2.00 a day starting April 15th until delivered. HEALTH/GUARANTEE All bulls have received complete parasite control and modified live vaccine. All Bulls are 100% guaranteed for soundness and fertility for the breeding season. Each Bull has had a breeding soundness certificate from Dr. Jay Wolverton from the Seward Animal Hospital. As soon as the bulls are paid for the insurance will need to be on the new owner If anything were to happen to the bull after the sale. APPRECIATION PROGRAM Anyone who purchases a Bull this year will receive a credit of $200 that will be applied to any bulls purchased on the 2020 SRA Bull Sale. We are thrilled to present our offering on March 28th for the Schweitzer Red Angus Bull and Production Sale. This year the sale is located at Beatrice 77 Livestock in Beatrice, Nebraska. Believe it or not, this is already the 4th Annual SRA Sale. The sale has turned not only into a bull sale but also a Red Angus enthusiast sale. Currently we have over 300 head on the sale for 2020. Our goal is to provide a top notch lineup of cattle that producers are looking for year in and year out. 2019 was a year that all livestock producers will be telling their families about for a long time. Some had it worse than others, but by the grace of the good Lord in the end we all put on our warm clothes and are checking for new baby calves on the ground a year later in winter and Spring of 2020. That mentality is what I love about livestock producers in the midwest, we are in it through thick and thin. This year we have over 50 Bulls on the auction block. We have been more aggressive than ever with our selection process. We are leaving 20 bulls at home that we may have put on the sale in years past. As we continue to improve our seedstock herd, our commitment is to make our offering better each year. Better quality, better performance, better EPD’s, and better pedigrees bring better bulls each year on sale day. With SRA and our herd partners you are seeing the top end of around 200 registered Red Angus cows when you come to the SRA sale. As we get deeper into our program I am starting to see some rapid changes in our sixth year of seedstock production. Starting out, you outsource registered cows that you don’t exactly know the full history of what you are buying. Now we are at a point where we don’t outsource any cows or heifers; we keep our top females each year. Now we know the history of their mother, and in some cases, we know the cow history two or three generations back. This allows us to only select the best females to add to our herd. In the past we may have artificially inseminated acquired registered cows that were bull bred. Now we are artificially inseminating a cow with some of the best Red Angus genetics that were top AI calves when the cow herself was mated. Now that we have had time this process is taking our operation to another level. In 30 months, we can have an AI bull calf on the ground out a top AI sired heifer that we raised. This process is changing the game for us. We will continue to keep our top females and kick out our low performers each year to bring you the best quality. The goal of our sale is to provide you a great set of bulls and replacement heifers. As you will see on this years sale, we are continuing to try new things. We have some red composite bulls and a good line up of black bulls with Chris and Kenni Woerner’s operation. We can’t keep all of our heifers, so we are also making these girls available this year in groups of three. These registered females will add power, size, and profitability to your herd. Most of all we do It because we love it. For some reason all of the work, stress, and hardship of raising cattle is in your blood and ours. That is why we are here! RED ANGUS GUIDE TO EPDS HerdBuilder (HB) - Need bulls for developing a profitable cowherd and maximizing the value of marketed progeny? Select a bull with a high HB value.

Weaning Weight (WW) and Yearling Weight (YW) - Predicts differences in weight at weaning and yearling. While selection based on these growth measures can increase your payweight, be cautious what the bull’s other EPDs are.

Producers selecting bulls to develop profitable replacement females and maximize the value of non-replacement marketed progeny should incorporate the HerdBuilder Index into their selection decisions.

Milk - Predicts differences in weaning weight and daughters progeny due to milk production. Maintenance Energy (ME) - Selecting bulls with a lower ME EPD will decrease the amount of feed his daughters will require to maintain body weight.

The HerdBuilder Index is built using the following scenario: • Red Angus bulls mated to cows and heifers • Replacement heifers retained from within the herd • All remaining progeny sold on a quality-based carcass grid

Heifer Pregnancy (HPG) - Retaining heifers? Select bulls with a high HPG to increase the percentage of exposures that result in a calving observation.

Given that replacement heifers are retained, significant influence is placed on the obvious maternal ERTs of Stayability, Heifer Pregnancy and Calving Ease. Additionally, with all remaining progeny sold on a quality-based carcass grid, Marbling, Yield Grade and growth EPDs also impact the HerdBuilder Index.

Calving Ease Maternal (CEM) - Another number to pay attention to if you are retaining heifers. Selecting bulls with a high CEM will increase the probability of those daughters calving unassisted.

GridMaster Index (GM) - If you market all of your calf crop and want to increase the value of that calf crop, select a bull with a high GM value to maximize your profit. Use the Gridmaster Index if your operation’s primary goal is maximizing profitability of feeders in the feed yard and on the rail. The Gridmaster Index is built using the following scenario:

Stayability (STAY) - The most important trait if your goal is developing cows that stay productive, thus increasing your profitability. Bulls that have a high Stay EPD are expected to sire daughters that remain productive in the herd until at least 6 years of age. Marbling Score (Marb) - Select bulls with high Marb EPD to increase the number of progeny that grade Choice or Prime. Yield Grade (YG) - Marketing calves on a grid? Placing selection pressure on YG EPD will decrease the number of YG discounts on gridmarketed progeny.

Carcass Weight (CW) - Selecting bulls with a high CW EPD will increase the weight of the hanging carcass, which di-rectly impacts revenue.

Marbling, Yield Grade and growth EPDs are the traits of primary importance in the GridMaster Index. Calving Ease Direct (CED) - Breeding Heifers? Select bulls with a high CED to increase the probability that the heifers will calve unassisted.

Rib Eye Area (REA) - Need to add muscle? Select bulls with a high REA EPD to increase rib eye area, which favorably increases Yield Grade.

Birth Weight (BW) - Predicts differences in birth weight. BW is included in the CED EPD, so simplify your decisions by selecting bulls based on CED instead of BW.

Backfat (Fat) - Need to reduce waste in carcasses? Select bulls with a low Fat EPD to reduce backfat, which favorably increases Yield Grade.

We decided to lead off with the best. Pictures are worth 1000 words for this bull. SRA REDEMPTION 9909 is one of the top bulls we have ever raised. We weaned him off at 150 days due to his mother having a bad leg on July 9th. He weighed in at 600 pounds 45 days before he would normally be weaned. He tipped that scale at 1410 pounds when he was less than one year old. As far as EPD’s goes he is one of the most solid bulls we are offering being in the top 15% of the breed in HB and GM. He is also top 25% in WW and YW. SRA 9909 was also shown and took second place in the open show at the Nebraska State Fair. If you’re serious about taking your herd to the next level this bull is your future herd sire that will not disappoint. 9909 is suitable for heifers. Retaining 50% semen interest if collected.

SRA 9310 is a Redemption Son that many will pick as the # 1 bull in the sale today. His mother is currently our best cow sired by Andras New Direction. SRA Complete Pack 93091 is one of two Brown Complete Sons we have on the sale. This brown Complete Sire is still one of my favorites in the breed. This bull is out of a first calf heifer and has shined from a very young age. His strong point is going to be in a heifer program with a BW EPD of -3.7 which puts him in the top 10% of the breed. His mother is a Redemption Daughter out of our donor cow which speaks for herself with the first five bulls listed before this one. Our program is now at a point where you not only get bull sired by some of the top bulls in the industry, but their mothers are also sired by top bulls in North America. SRA Complete Ease 9307 is the easiest calving bull we are offering on the sale today and is also out of a heifer. His Birth weight EPD of -5.1 is top 2% in the breed as well as a CED score in the top 10%. This bulls mother is a flush mate to the mother of Lot 6 and he is sired by Brown Complete as well. The only difference between this bull is that Complete Ease is a month older and has even better EPDs for breeding heifers. One of the top Pedigrees you can find on the sale coming out of a pure-bred Redemption heifer. Unfortunately, his mother is offered on the sale today bred for the fall. This guy is out of one of the most consistent flushes we’ve had, which provided us one of the nicest replacement heifers we’ve raised and sale topping bulls last year. Out of the record selling bull ever for Wernings, Bankroll 811D who is a must use for making great PB Simmentals that will top the scales come weaning time. Dam is one of our most consistent cows, and former Nebraska State Fair cow-calf champ. This guy packs a lot into a more moderate framed, sound package Another purebred Simmental bull that should work great on heifers. He has been a favorite at our place since birth. He came small, and then just continued to grow and impress, especially for being out of a first calf heifer. A lot of this business is all about the cows, and his dam is backed by the infamous Cottontail family. Then on his sire’s side, he is backed by the great Werning 8543U cow, who has generated well north of $1 million in sales. Not only does he have the mass, bone, and structure you want in a bull, he has got great calving numbers as well. He would work excellent running on Angus influenced cattle.

SRA BC 8614 just got kicked out of the barn this morning with a nice looking Bull calf (2-20-20). The sire of the calf was bred to lot 48 in last year sale a Dr Phil Son. She is a brown complete heifer out of one of our reputation cows. The one thing about her and her mother is she is going to be a small cow. Her mom is on her third calf and weighs 1100 pounds soaking wet. However, I kept her heifer this year for our own herd that weaned off at the top half of the group. The milk on this family is visually apparent and also top 25% of the breed. This dark cherry red heifer pair is hard to let go but will look great in your pasture this summer

I was able to pull of getting three Ragnar 527 Daughters in one pen of three. 65A is SRA Jenny 9511 she is deep bodied and will be a great heifer. I have five daughters out of the original 351 chato cow I started with; theymake great cows. 65B Ragars Nelly is out of a Gill Red Angus cow and has looked fancy all year but we did not make it into the show ring with her. 65C Ragnar’s Layla wraps up the group. All of these commercial heifers came from customers that use SRA bulls. This is a great set of commercial females that will make a great cow herd.

These pairs are from the SRA recip herd. They are only on the offering because they did not take eggs this year but have great calves at side that were bred to our herd bulls.

Bob Wehrs has consigned his Spring commercial Cows to the sale this year. This is a complete herd dispersal as he is moving to a Fall herd â&#x20AC;&#x153;because he is getting old.â&#x20AC;? These Red Angus cows mostly originated from the SRA herd when we went to a seedstock herd. There are a lot of different ages on these cows. We will Pregnancy check and have them grouped in ages at Sale time. They are due to start calving April 15th.
