The Shorthorn Youth Development Fund (SYDF) was established in 2020 to provide financial support that will sustain and expand excellent programming to develop Shorthorn youth as cattle producers and responsible, productive citizens. We started a new fundraising program last year and many breeders donated lots in their sales to become part of the Shorthorn Royal Society. This has continued this year and is off to a great start! On September 4 during the ‘Star Search XIX’ sale, Cates Farms of Indiana sold four different donation lots. They sold a bred female, CATF Style Whiskey to David McCall of Kentucky for $1,200. They sold two units of CF Solution to Wayne Jester, Jester Farms of Indiana for a total of $1,400. They sold three units of Leveldale Boardwalk for a total of $675 to David McCall. They sold three units of CF S/F Ultimate Reward for a total of $1,950 to Little Cedar Cattle Co. of Michigan. Cornerstone Farms of Indiana hosted an online sale on September 4 and donated 100% of three sexed units of semen on Millbrook Fireball. The semen was purchased for a total of $1,500 by Schrag 605 of South Dakota. On September 13, Smith Family Farms of Indiana hosted their online sale and donated 50% of SFF Zoey 139 KK. She was purchased for a total of $2,300 by Rober McFarlane of Iowa with $1,150 going to the SYDF. During the Tadmore Farms, online sale on September 20, John and Barbara Russell donated 100% of a package of embryos. The donor dam was TMF Stone Cold Cumberland 5916 and they were sired by SULL Red Reward 9321. The package sold for $600 to Malik Abdul-Rauf of Kentucky. On September 21, Berg Shorthorns of Iowa donated multiple lots to SYDF. Ten units of SULL Red Valley 5011 ET sold for $300 to Mark Brubaker of Indiana. Another ten units of SULL Red Valley went to Kayla Harrover of Virginia for $300. Jamie Huisman bought ten units of Bergs Fireball for $100. An embryo

package of Alta Cedar Samurai and AF SL Mirage sold for a total of $300 for four embryos to Kayla Harrover. An embryo package of Hill Haven Bold and SULL Prime Dream Lady sold for $150 for three embryos to Malik Abdul-Rauf. Little Cedar Cattle Company, Michigan, donated 100% of a package of sexed heifer embryos in their sale on September 25. The embryos donor dam was GCC Marvelous Margie 96 ET and embryos were sired by Worldwide, Long Look and Dream Marker. The package sold for a total of $4,800 to Tadmore Farms of Texas. Shoufler Shorthorns, Indiana, donated 100 % of two units of CF S/F Upperhand in their online sale on September 28. The lot was purchased by David McCall of Kentucky. During the Heart of the Prairie Sale, sale on October 16, Crow Creek Farms of Oklahoma donated 100% of semen packages. They sold three lots of five units of TJH Bo’s Maxim H7. The package sold for $200 each to Allen Ostermeyer of Missiouri, Rick Couch of Oklahoma and Dave erickson of Illinois. On October 17, Aegerter Cattle Company, Nebraska, made a donation in the Lasting Impressions sale. They donated ten units of KANE Catwalk that sold for a total of $500 to Jordan Leak of Kansas. They also donated ten units of KANE Captain that sold for a total of $600 to James Holzler of Oklahoma. Lane Cattle of Oklaoma donated five units of STECK WSCC Hot Shot and it was purchased by John Manning of Oklahoma. Leveldale Farms of Illinois donated their highest selling semen lot to the SYDF from their sale on October 30. The package of five units of Leveldale Boardwalk sold to Tadmore Farms of Texas for a total of $1,175. Thank you to all the donors and buyers for your support of the SYDF.
