The Schrag Family name over the past 50 plus years has been synonymous with breed leading genetics and high quality Shorthorn and Shorthorn influence cattle across the United States, and the 51st Annual “Family Event” Production sale was absolutely the greatest one yet, in their long and storied history. Cory, Melissa, Sammi and Jaxon Schrag, along with their remarkable staff offered one of the most powerful sets of young show heifer prospects, frozen genetics and a breed changing herd sire prospect for their annual production sale, which drew a capacity crowd in the Schrag 605 sale facility on a beautiful, bright sunny, early fall day in Marion, South Dakota. The offering of Purebred Shorthorn heifer calves were the buzz of the breed all fall for the depth and extreme quality of the offering, featuring progeny from some of the most proven and prolific cow families in the breed. Cow families such as the Dream Lady’s, The Max Rosa’s, The Missing Mirage’s, The Revival’s, The Destiny’s Best, The Cumberland’s, The Myrtle Bo’s and their own Augusta Pride’s. The Schrag 605 “Family Event” Annual Production Sale, has become one of the absolutely powerhouse sources for nationally competitive show heifers and genetics that consistently perform for their clients and customers time after time, after time. $110,000 - Lot 4 - Open Heifer. SS EVERMORE MIRAGE 137. A beautiful, perfectly colored strawberry roan, polled, March 6, 2021 daughter of the ever popular SULL Propel 7187E and out of the powerful donor cow, CYT Missing Mirage 2120, which also was the dam of the top selling show heifer in the 2020 “Family Event” Sale. This extremely powerful, huge bodied, stout built, killer looking purebred female captured the entire country for her overall look and power, and will be a dominant force to deal with on the national level for the coming year. Selling to Cash Lehrman, Spencer, South Dakota. $85,000 - Lot 19 - Open Heifer. SS MYRTLE BO BLUSH 166. A stunning, red necked roan, polled, May 2, 2021, purebred daughter of CYT Maxim 9202 out of arguably the most productive and powerful donor in the Schrag 605 donor lineup. This young, super designed, whale bellied, stout built show heifer prospect completely impressed the large crowd of buyers in attendance for her overall skeletal width and stoutness, yet presented a tremendous look and presence. This young little powerhouse will be very competitive in that early summer class this coming show season for her new owner, Ashten Strissel, Burleson, Texas. $40,000 - Lot 16 - Open Heifer. SS RHS Cumberland Cora 361. Without question one of the favorite heifers in the offering, this super designed, sharp featured, huge footed, soggy middled, ground pounder was so very complete and presented a very symmetrical look. A striking, red necked roan, April 2, 2021, polled, purebred daughter of SULL Propel 7187E was out of yet another powerful cow family line, the great WHR BCL Cumberland 3108. The SULL Propel daughters captured everyone’s attention for their overall mass and power, yet keeping a very attractive and eye appealing look. This awesome young female was purchased by another return buyer, Karli Becking, Florence, South Dakota. $37,000 - Lot 7 - Purebred Bull. SS INFERNO 120 ET. When you think of Shorthorn Power Genetics, you’re drawn to this powerful, stout built chunky and huge topped son of Hillbrook Fireball 23F which sold to Jason Newcom, Cornerstone Farms, Winchester, Indiana. This tremendous young, February 1, 2021, dark roan, polled, purebred herd sire prospect should be on everyone’s breeding list for the coming year as this awesome son of Fireball out of SS Chasing Dreams 6202, combined a total package of look, power, sound structure and an exciting outcross pedigree that lends to a very diverse genetic package for many programs all across the country. Watch for progeny out of the young stud in the coming years. $29,000 - Lot 22 - Open Heifer. SS MYRTLE BO BLING 170. This cool colored, blue roan, Shorthorn Plus/Maintainer dual registered show heifer prospect made many, many friends on sale day for her overall look, presence and power. A May 5, 2021 daughter of the ever popular BBR Memphis Mafia 3E out of yet another powerful, purebred Shorthorn donor, SS Myrtle Bo 5210. This powerful female along with her full sister gained rave reviews and attention from the large crowd of spectators, friends and buyers in attendance on sale day. The Reedy Family, Lovington, Illinois purchased this awesome young show heifer prospect and have tremendous success and enjoyment campaigning her through the midwest and national events in the coming year. $28,750 - Lot 21 - Open Heifer. SS MYRTLE BO BLINK 162. The full sister to the Lot 22 heifer, this solid black, April 26, 2021, Shorthorn Plus/Maintainer dual registered show heifer was again the result of combining the power and muscle of her sire, BBR Memphis Mafia 3E, the high MaineAnjou sire to the great young donor female in the Schrag 605 program, SS Myrtle Bo 5210. A super designed, three dimensional, sharp fronted, ultra complete female that sold to Gana Farms, Craig Gana and Family, Martell, Nebraska. =
