Welcome to Leveldale
We believe the Ladies of Leveldale INVESTMENT Sale offers some for the most unique individuals and genetics seen in the beef industry! The Bowman and Leone families have consigned GREAT additions to the sale and represent some of the best documented genetics in attractive packages in the Shorthorn World. Many do not realize the effort and constant focus on genetic improvement by these two firms joining Leveldale. Their documentation includes top carcass performance. You will be evaluating cattle from herds with advanced genetic offerings. Leveldale prides its self in avoiding single trait selection. MULTITRAIT SELECTION for "Elastic" cattle that can adopt and thrive in many environments is our goal. RERPRODUCTION and low maintenance traits are necessities for our program! We raise many cattle ready to join the Elite Show ranks, but they also must fit into our modest nutrition, low maintenance, calve every year program. None of our cattle in the sale have had feet trimmed. The calves received no creep feed. We want you to know what you are buying and INVEST in what you want. Calves from our last sale became state fair champions and leading foundation females and bulls in herds across the nation. We are offering top calves and young productive females - a true production sale. We are also offering a small group of service age bulls from top females. We bring to you for your assessment very special genetic combinations with detailed data supporting them. They also have the eye appeal and structural soundness to help take your program forward in the show ring and on the ranch or farm. For example, two of our top cut of bred heifers in the sale offer multi-generation low maintenance, no calving assistance or other costly issues while having carcass ultrasounds in the top 1 percent of the Shorthorn breed in marbling and rib eye size. This is even more impressive in a breed that excels in carcass traits. These same heifers and others offered could have won many fairs if fed and groomed for that target. One was in the Champion Pen at National Western Stock Show this year.
Remember what the first Les Mathers said "You INVEST your money in Good Shorthorns. You Spend it on Poor ones." -Les Mathers

A.I. bred to Studers Taylor Made 7Y due 2/8/14. 812 is a true power cow from the heart of the Leveldale herd. She is a stout, big bodied proven producer that has served as a donor for our program. Her phenotype and disposition was admired by Lindsay Mathers...enough to be broke and ready to show, successfully, in two months at 2009 National Junior Show in Springfield, Ill. She has a less than 365 day calving interval, while successfully flushed. Not your typical show heifer/donor cow combination! Leveldale Farms, Mason City, Ill.

Bowman Superior Genetics Located in the heart of Shorthorn Country, BSG sees Shorthorn cattle in a little different light than simply just midwestern tradition; honest facts and the breed’s inevitable future drive our steady breeding program. With the recent progressive action and the promising vision of the American Shorthorn Association, BSG prefixed cattle are right for the times. We see the invaluable role that Shorthorn cattle can play in the beef business to make any cattleman, no matter your trade, profitable. This has proven to be true multiple times, with various BSG herd sires yielding the High Profitability Sire Group at the ASA’s Great State Feedout over recent years; including Top Hand, who represents nearly half of our offering. We believe that the modern Shorthorn animal should do many things well and we are committed to delivering cattle that can calve on their own, express measurable and realistic maternal traits, and turnout enough growth and carcass quality that the consumer, at the end of the chain, appreciates our product on their plate. We believe producers of high quality Shorthorns have more opportunity to reap the rewards of their efforts now, more than ever. We realize that good looking, average cattle are easy to come by. But we were honored to be asked to be part of the Investment Sale because good looking, hard-working, genetically exceptional cattle are the future of the Shorthorn breed and the cattle business; and that's what Les, Rick, and Phil are presenting on October 26. With our primary jobs off the farm, the cattle have to work for themselves. Nearly 100% of our 60 heifers calved on their own in 2013 with the exception of couple malpresentations.

Bred to JSF Capiche 46U. Examined Safe. Due 3/1/14 This is one that is really hard to part with. Peak View Ranch In a year when retained ownership did not offer a profit in the great state feedout for any other participant Peak View Ranch posted a positive return. Peak View Ranch has done this every year since the inception of the program. These types of accomplishments don't occur by accident and are a result of an intense breeding program combined with stringent performance testing that has occurred uninterrupted since the herd was established in 1977. 100% of Peak View's calf crop is evaluated from birth to harvest or until they enter the breeding herd and then there production is closely monitored and stringently selected to improve the production merits of this herd of cattle. Our calf crop can be viewed at Tri County Feeders after October 4th. Peak View Ranch makes no exceptions on performance. Every open female or female needing assistance at calving as a mature animal is culled annually. We experience less than a 3% dystocia rate in our mature cow herd. Peak View's herd is part of the momentum in this great breed to create and maintain functional easy fleshing high performing docile cattle with eye appeal. This herd is composed of production oriented cattle designed to provide no non sense profits for serious minded cattlemen.

Pasture exposed and confirmed pregnant to Peak View Cosmo May 1st to June 15th. This heifer should interest most. She had the
highest ratio for yearling weight and 2nd highest ratio for ADG. She has done this maintaining a 5 frame score. Jake Alden saw this heifer as a calf and she stood out then. You won’t get an opportunity at one with this pedigree with a performance background like this very often. Her dam has produced herd sires and her pedigree holds some of the breed greats. Cosmo is a consistent calving ease sire that stamps a great pattern on his calves.

Pasture exposed and confirmed pregnant to Leveldale Resolve June 20th to August 1st. Here is a cow straight from the heart of our breeding program. She is hard to part with but we are excited to share the incredible attributes from the Sindelar program. She produced the top performing steer over purebred and crossbred steers in the ASA feedlot trial in 2012. She also produced in the same flush Bowmen’s pick of our bred heifers. While maintaining reasonable calving ease, she is a weaning and yearling performance power house in a frame 5 package.

Pasture exposed and confirmed pregnant to Leveldale Resolve from 1.8 June 20th to August 1st. We can’t say enough about what this cow MCE represents. She is a flush mate to the bulls that ended birth weight issues CWT -19 and restored fleshing ability to our cow herd. As a heifer calf she was Nick -0.34 Hammetts pick of her flush mates. Besides her flush mates that were REA chosen as herd sires, her steer mate won the 1st ASA feedlot trial. He 0.03 FAT posted an ADG of 4.2 pounds and a feed efficiency of 5.2 with a prime + 0.14 MARB carcass. He did all this profitably in a year that nearly all other producers experienced a loss in the trial. She has produced herd sires for some of the most discriminating cattle operations. He sires daughters with good udders, heifers rebreed, his bulls have thickness and large testicles with a great hoof and foot. Yes, he also has been shown to be homozygous polled.
