Hanoi ı Ha Giang ı Dong Van ı Ba Be ı Cao Bang ı Lang Son ı Halong Bay

Absorb the culture in the remote villages of the north amidst spectacular landscapes. Day 1 - Hanoi - Ha Giang Begin early for the guided transfer from Hanoi to Ha Giang. The journey takes around seven hours and has some of the most breath-taking scenery in Vietnam. Along the way stop in small villages to mingle with the locals, take photos and stretch your legs. On arrival at Ha Giang you need to register at the local immigration office (with passports and before 1600 hrs) to obtain the permits required to visit the region. That done, take a short walk around Ha Giang and to a Tay village set in a picturesque valley nearby. Stay overnight at the Huy Hoang Hotel.

Day 2 - Ha Giang - Dong Van Travel up into the mountains which form the border between Vietnam and southern China. The remoteness of the region and the refreshingly untouched lifestyle of the local people are the rewards. Learn about the customs of the local Hmong people and visit the former residence of the last Hmong King, the Vuong Palace, a large two storey residence built by the French. Late this afternoon arrive in the small town of Dong Van and check into your hotel. Try a restaurant in town - just watch out for the rice wine! Stay overnight at the Hoang Ngoc 2 Hotel. (B)

Day 3 - Dong Van - Sunday Market - Ha Giang Sunday is often market day in Dong Van

and nearby Meo Vac. The drive to Meo Vac is most spectacular as the road climbs up the side of a massive canyon with dizzying views to the river below. The markets are also incredible. Here you’ll see ethnic minority groups with the dominant being the aptly named Flower Hmong, whose women wear intricately designed clothing and carry bags with bright floral patterns. After lunch drive back to Ha Giang. Stay overnight at the Huy Hoang Hotel. (B)

Day 4 - Ha Giang - Ba Be This morning, you will be driven from Ha Giang to the Ba Be National Park. Upon arrival check into your hotel, followed by a short trek in the National Park. Stay overnight at the Ba Be National Park Guest House. (B)

Day 5 - Ba Be - Cao Bang Enjoy a boat cruise around Ba Be Lake, ranked as one of the most beautiful freshwater lakes in the world. After reaching the end of the lake take a short walk to the Dau Dang Waterfall before meeting the jeep to begin the drive to Cao Bang. Stay two nights at the Thanh Loan Hotel. (B)

Day 6 - Cao Bang Drive through unique landscapes of limestone karst formations soaring from verdant rice paddies on the way to beautiful Ban Gioc Waterfall which boasts an impressive span of 300 metres. Also stop at Nguom Ngao Cavern. (B)

Lunch at a local restaurant in Ninh Binh then continue on

Mekong Eyes Cruises

Saigon ı Can Tho ı Cai Be ı Chau Doc ı Phnom Penh

Explore the beautiful countryside of the Mekong Delta and relax on a Mekong Eyes cruise boat, visiting the colourful floating markets and getting a taste of the region. Combining local boat-building traditions with modern comforts, the Mekong Eyes fleet consists of three types of boats: the spacious and comfortable Mekong Eyes with 15 cabins, a fleet of Dragon Eyes, luxurious 2 cabin cruisers for a more private

Mekong cruise

and the very private Gecko Eyes house boats with only one cabin each.

What’s in a name? The name Mekong Eyes comes from one of the traditional ceremonies performed on newly constructed boats called an “eye opening”. The eyes are painted on the bow for good luck, a wide-awake crew and safe journeys. Choose a 3 or 4 day tour which feature cruise accommodation, shore excursions, an overnight hotel stay in Chau Doc and a speedboat ride into Cambodia.
