Global Cloud Computing Market is anticipated to expand at a compound annual growth rate of XX% during the forecast period i.e. 2016-2024. There are a myriad of benefits, as mentioned above, such as cost, scale, and productivity, which are driving the growth behind the increasing use of cloud computing in IT infrastructure. Cost, however, may be the biggest reason that organizations are switching from on-premise infrastructure to cloud deployments. In a Rackspace survey of 1,300 executives, xx% of respondents agreed with the statement that “cloud computing is a key factor in the recent boom of entrepreneurs and start-ups”. In addition, many of the respondents, about 43% of the group, had said that their businesses had launched within the past 3 years and a majority of them said that they would not have been able to afford on-premises IT resources had it not been for cloud computing. While larger corporations certainly see benefits of cloud computing services, startups in general tend to see the largest benefit, as startups face financial clout and do not always have the cash or resources to spend on physical infrastructure. So, if startups are able to save 30% on IT resources, as was shown above, then it can be a huge boon for them in launching their products and being able to compete with larger businesses. Copyright

Growth Drivers Growing Enterprise Cloud Spending
Between 2015 and 2017 enterprise cloud spending increased, with XX% of respondents reporting an increase in SaaS spending, XX% increasing spending on IaaS, and XX% increasing spending on PaaS. Adoption of public cloud architectures shows no signs of slowing down as the latest market forecasts suggest the sector is set to grow XX% in 2018 from 2017, reaching USD XX bn in revenues.
SaaS spending, which is comprised of applications and system infrastructure software (SIS), will be dominated by applications purchases, which will make up more than half of all public cloud services spending through 2019. Enterprise resource management (ERM) applications and customer relationship management (CRM) applications will see the most spending in 2018, followed by collaborative applications and content applications.
PaaS spending will be led by data management software, which will see the fastest spending growth (XX% CAGR) over the forecast period. Application platforms, integration and orchestration middleware, and data access, analysis and delivery applications will also see healthy spending levels in 2018 and beyond. In terms of geography, the United States will be the largest country market for public cloud services in 2018 with its USD XX bn accounting for more than XX% of worldwide spending. The United Kingdom and Germany will lead public cloud spending in Western Europe at USD XX bn and USD XX bn respectively, while Japan and China will round out the top 5 countries in 2018 with spending of USD XX bn and USD XX bn, respectively.

Market Restraints Data Privacy and Security Firms are apprehensive about their data being compromised on a public cloud or the monetization of their customer data by cloud vendors. For example, traders in a firm would be extremely wary of placing their proprietary trading strategies in a cloud, fearing that a competitor on the same cloud might gain access to them. Similarly, portfolio managers and risk analysts are apprehensive about the asset allocation or benchmark rebalancing strategies of a firm. Since financial services firms operate in a highly regulated environment, any loss of customer data or any of the above scenarios could have reputational implications and lead to a barrage of lawsuits from customers. Vendor lock-in is another concern. Most cloud providers provide access to their resources through proprietary APIs, web interfaces or command line tools. If a firm wants to shift to a different cloud vendor, there would be high cost involved to switch to new interfaces, which might actually negate the advantages of using the cloud in the first place. IT managers are also worried about availability of applications deployed on a cloud. Cloud computing vendors generally provide services on standard terms, which tend to be for the benefit of vendors, including limited warranties. Imagine a scenario in which a cloud provider deletes a customer’s data or takes down a customer’s application for days or weeks for breach of contract, such as non-payment. It would create many problems for a firm. And cloud outages, like the one at Amazon , further compound the fear of non-availability.

Key Insights
There is a growing trend in both the private and public sectors to utilize cloud offerings not only for the benefits of such offerings over legacy models, but out of necessity, as a growing number of products and services procured by businesses and governmental entities are being replaced by cloudonly offerings.
Cloud computing is very well established in the US. According to our projections, worldwide spending on public cloud offerings alone - of which the US market constitutes a material portion - is expected to increase from USD XX billion in 2016 to USD XX billion in 2024. The US federal government is expected to exceed USD XX billion in spending for cloud computing by 2024.

In addition to the considerable cloud offerings available to the private sector in the US, there are a number of notable government projects involving cloud computing, including the CluE Project - a partnership between the IBM/Google Academic Cloud Computing Initiative and the National Science Foundation to fund academic Big Data research - and the Amazon Web Services (AWS) GovCloud - an isolated AWS region designed to allow US government agencies and customers to move sensitive information into the cloud.
