Born in Wellington and educated at St Patrick’s College and Victoria University in Wellington Steve entered real estate in August 1993. In January 1996 Steve was appointed Sales Manager for Challenge Realty’s Oriental Bay Office. Within eighteen months Steve took the office into the top ten in the Challenge Realty Group. Steve went on to purchase three Wellington offices in October 1997. Over the next seven years Steve was instrumental in growing the company from a sales team of twelve to a team of sixty eight sales people with four thousand house sales worth over 1.5 billion dollars! Shortly after Steve sold the business he was approached by Ray White Australia and asked to restructure their International business model so as to increase their competitiveness with RE/MAX. At the time over three hundred sales people, in Queensland alone, had left Ray White to join RE/MAX. In the next few years Steve played a huge part in turning around the fortunes of Ray White and increasing the number of sales people by over 40%. Steve returned to New Zealand in November 2005 and took up the role of Director of Operations for RE/MAX New Zealand. In 2006 Steve attended a wide range of leading international industry training seminars in Denver, Chicago and Brisbane. Starting in the Real Estate Industry in 1989 I worked initially in residential sales for three years for Leaders Real Estate 1987 Ltd (now RE/MAX Leaders) in their Karori office. In 1992 I moved into commercial sales and leasing initially for Raine & Horne Ltd and Cooney Property Ltd specialising in industrial property. Seeing an opportunity to specialise in the commercial market I started Pelorus Real Estate Ltd MREINZ in 1999, and built the business up to be a Wellington wide operation with 10 salespeople. Pelorus focused on providing excellent customer service in the Wellington, Hutt Valley and Porirua commercial real estate market. In May 2012 with the arrival of my son Jack I decided it was time to return to where it all started winding Pelorus Real Estate down and becoming a Licensed Agent for RE/MAX Leaders servicing the residential requirements of friends, colleagues and the Wellington public. Living in Miramar with his partner Jo and son Jack, RE/MAX is by far the largest most progressive real estate agency in Wellington having a 50% market share in the southern and eastern suburbs. RE/MAX has a dedicated office in Kilbirnie servicing the area and providing great support to marketing initiatives. I am an experienced auctioneer and have completed in excess of 140 commercial and residential auctions both on site and in auction rooms. Prior to entering real estate I completed a Bachelor of Commerce & Administration. I have attended numerous real estate courses and have completed a Diploma in Real Estate achieving Licensed Agent AREINZ status. My extensive experience in real estate combined with my positive can do attitude provides great results for clients and customers I work with. My interest in getting back to an active sales role, dealing direct with customers is what I always enjoyed is and missed whilst running my own business.
