Accelerated Career Transformation Services (ACTS) for Veterans and their Spouses
Accelerated Training and Enhanced Veteran Services As our nation’s veterans have served our country, Wake Tech aims to serve our veterans through the Accelerated Career Transformation Services (ACTS) program, by offering accelerated curricula and enhanced veteran services. The primary target population of WTCC’s ACTS program is post9/11 veterans, female veterans, and their spouses.
Get Credit for Military Service Veterans can capitalize on time served in the military by converting Military Occupation Specialist (MOS) training into college credit. In other words, veterans can earn credit for “experiential learning.” Alternatively, veterans who do not have qualifying MOS experience but still desire training, may be eligible for nonaccelerated versions of training programs.
This program is supported with funds from the WalMart Foundation.
Funding may be available to offset the cost of training programs.

CCNA Security Certification Prep
Apartment Maintenance Technician
This series of courses prepares students for the CCNA Security Exam.
This course prepares students for entry-level maintenance positions in the multifamily and apartment housing industry and is designed to meet the training requirement for certification as an apartment maintenance technician.
This certification extends student skills in: • Developing a security infrastructure • Recognizing threats and vulnerabilities to networks • Mitigating security threats The course emphasizes core security technologies, including installation, troubleshooting and monitoring of network devices to maintain integrity, and confidentiality and availability of data and devices. The course also emphasizes competency in the technologies that Cisco uses in its security structure. Regular Contact Hours: 174 hrs. / 42 weeks Veterans Accelerated Course Hours: 132 hrs./27 wks. MOS Compliant Fields: Computer Technology, Military Intelligence or strong background in computers. (Internal Testing provided for acceptance into accelerated program. ) Partnering Institutions: ISG (Innovative Systems Group)
Topics include: • Apartment business • Employability skills • Interior and exterior maintenance • Electrical systems • Plumbing • Heating and air conditioning • Appliance maintenance and repair Lectures, demonstrations, field trips, and handson labs reinforce subject matter. Successful completion of this course fulfills one of the requirements for the Certificate for Apartment Maintenance Technicians (CAMT). Regular Contact Hours: 120 hrs. Basic EMT This course introduces the concepts of basic Emergency Medical Care. Topics include: • Preparatory • Airway • Patient assessment • Medical emergencies
• Trauma • Pediatrics • Operational concepts
Upon completion, students should be able to demonstrate the skills necessary to function as an EMT-Basic. Regular Contact Hours: 180 hrs. Veterans Accelerated Course Hours: 45 hrs.
