Simple Form into Structure
1st Year Fall 2016
For this project, we were asked to create 10 foam-core cubes that was made of two parts that interlocked. After creating the cubes, we were then to create a structure based of the best cube and have a skin that was connected to the structure. The two pictures in
the bottom left corner are study models made at a smaller scale that were used to figure out what did and did not work. Then for the final model (bottom right), the building process became easier and more structurally sound.
Overlapping Arrays 1st Year Spring 2017
In this project we were to create a series of overlapping arrays in a 12”x12”x1.5” tray. Then we were to build the physically. To get rid of the symmetry of the initial design (top right), parts of the exterior arrays were removed resulting in the model below the initial. Alongside this project, we were taught how to use the laser cutter. Because of this the final model ended up slightly toasted. After creating the model, we were asked to make charcoal drawing of the model at any scale and to give the space created a purpose. For the drawing below, I tried to make the space into a large structure with pools of water within the void spaces.
Meeting of Two materials
1st Year Spring 2017
For this project we were seperated into teams of two and tasked with making a 2”x3”x6” block out of wood and hydrostone. Each teammember had the responsibilty of forming one of the materials into a collaborated design. This exercise was done twice, so that each member would have to go through the process of using both materials. After the blocks were made, we were asked to create an object to act as spacers between the objects. The final part of this project was to make a charcoal drawing of our block with the spacer in use.
Unicorn in the Garden 1st Year Spring 2017
Whitehand Hall, University of Oklahoma 339 W. Boyd Street, Norman, OK
For this assignment we were put in groups of three to create three different exterior spaces with overhangs for people to hang out or relax at. The space I got was the in between Whitehand Hall and (what was then) Meatball House. Even though we had individual spaces, teams were supposed to have transitions between the spaces to connect through a similar language.

This design is based on people having similar, but different experience from depending on which direction are going. Another part of the design comes from the deviation from 90 degrees from earlier projects to 45 degrees. Rendering 1

Design 1 3/16"=1'
Design 2 3/16"=1'
Design 3 3/16"=1'
For this project wehad to create 9 interior spaces consisting of three regions that ranged from light to dark and was 10’ deep. After that we had to use five of those conceptsinto a 50’ deep building section. Design 4 3/16"=1'

Great Salt Plain Observatory 2nd Year Fall 2017
First and SecondFloor Plan
Great Salt Plains, Jet, Oklahoma
Third Floor Plan
This project required us to fit an observatory, lab, and housing for 3 scientist while only having 900 sqft footprint not counting the entry ramp. Another focus during this project was having the entire building be wheelchair accessible.
East Site of Model
The long ramps that go down the entirety of my building comes from the idea of not have the ramps be in a small area serpentining. The further you go in the building the more natural light comes into the building. Above the ramps are small skylights to allow light into the building. And once you get to the observatory, you get a growing view of the world outside. Then there is the support underneath my building, they became this large to keep the amount of the salt plain it touched.

Structure From Pictures 2nd Year Spring 2018
For this project, we were to 10 design components within three photographes from a photographer we were given, mine being Jim Fenwick. Then we had to manipulate 5 of any of the components we found into a composition and then make a structure based off that composition without using any adhesive. The structure is held up by friction and forces acting in opposite directions from the placment of the member.
Boutique Gallery Hotel 2nd Year
100 Spring Street Eureka Springs, Arkansas
Spring 2018
For this assignment, we were to make a hotel that had a gallery, restaurat, 2 event room, 2 egress stairs, and elevator, 10 guestrooms, and 2 suites. We were also told to base our structure from the prior assignment. The structure used in my final building is a grid based system, with the shifted floor plates above grade. Another feature of this design is the light well that is used to have sunlight reach the lower floors.

The design of this hotel came from the idea of manipulating the inherent modularity of hotels. This manipulation created an experience of going through spaces with a variety of different shapes and made the path to almost every room different.

Plans
The wall of the Wadsworth Building that touches our site (top right) has ghost signs that are important to the town, which has ghost signs scattered around. Becuase the hotel was going to be covering it, the North wall was left blank so that it could be used to somewhat replace the ghost signs. The wall could be decorated by any of the local artist, seeing as parts of Eureka Springs are used to showcase art, such as the staircase to the right.
