Animals in my world
emu chick Emu chicks have stripy, fluffy feathers and live with their father for up to eighteen months.
Koala The koala is one of Australia’s most famous animals. It has thick grey fur and eats only gum leaves.
kangaroo A baby kangaroo is called a joey. It spends the first six months of its life inside its mum’s cosy pouch.
possum Possums live in trees, but may also make their homes in people’s houses.
echidna Echidnas have sharp spines that protect them from danger. They love to lick up ants with their long tongues.
Bats These strange-looking bats are called ghost bats because of their light-coloured fur and wings.
cockatoo Cockatoos are clever birds that move their colourful crests when excited or scared.
Pademelon Pademelons are small wallabies. They live in forests and rainforests and munch on juicy grass and shrubs.
