Training with ARCA
Centre-based and Remote-based Courses
As a leading provider of asbestos training courses, your Association is supporting you, its members, with a range of options to fit your business and your staff needs.
Over the last few months, many ARCA members have continued working on projects supporting key worker organisations including the NHS. So, refresher training for operatives and supervisors was required as certificates needed to be kept up to date.
By early May, ARCA had put together remote training to support those who needed refresher training and began delivering these courses, some of which were free to members. The remote courses cover all the theory elements of centrebased training, and numbers are limited so that a high level of interaction is possible.
Now ARCA offers 13 remote training courses for asbestos removal operatives, supervisors and managers, to complement the centre-based classroom/practical training. “I don’t think you could improve on a course that was on Zoom it was a fantastic course 10/10.” Course: Remote Supervisor Refresher “Trainer was very good and informative, great Zoom experience.” Course: Remote Operative Refresher “I didn’t feel that he could improve on anything really as he got the information across really well” Course: Remote Remote Licensed Contract Manager
On 22nd June, ARCA reopened its centres and resumed practical asbestos training.
All ARCA training at its training centres is being delivered strictly in accordance with guidance on safe working during COVID-19. This includes; reducing the number of candidates per course to ensure 2m social distancing can easily be achieved, in the training rooms desks are spaced out and candidates’ areas marked on the floor; for practical training individual areas have also been marked out, and there are hygiene stations.

Since reopening practical training centres 100% of those candidates who gave feedback said they were satisfied with the COVID-19 safe working procedures in place. “Don’t think that you should improve - the course was just perfect, the teacher as well.” Course: New Operative
“Excellent presentation, with good attention to evidence.” Course: Risk Assessments & Plans of Work
“Great update on licence renewal and personal monitoring, also the control of neg pressure.” Course: Licensed Contract Manager Update
Don’t forget that all ARCA training courses, centre-based and remote, are delivered by one of our team of qualified trainers who have extensive industry knowledge and experience. Course dates for the next three months are available on pages 41 and 42, with full details on the range of centre-based and remote training courses at www.arca.org.uk
ARCA delivers practical training at seven venues
ARCA began offering members practical asbestos training at venues across the country from July 2020, with the addition of two new training venues in Southampton and Leeds.
“Following feedback from members regarding the location of training venues (especially from the individual member visits), I reviewed possible venues which could accommodate our need for both classroom and asbestos practical training,” commented Satish Patel, Training Manager at ARCA.
Training courses for new asbestos removal operatives, supervisors and contract managers, as well as refresher courses, have currently been scheduled up until the end of the year. Oxford

ARCA Training Certificate Checker
Did you know that you can validate copies of ARCA training certificates using an online Certificate Checker? Verification is quick and easy using this online tool.
The Certificate Checker is available to ARCA members, nonmembers, and individuals, who would like to check the authenticity of an asbestos removal operative, supervisor or manager’s ARCA training certificate.
Certain information on a certificate is required, including the individual’s unique ARCA ID number. When all the information has been inputted, the tool will check the information against the ARCA database, and if validated the original certificate information can be viewed on screen.
