new year and a new line up! Now that 2016 has been carefully packed away and never to be spoken about again, we can look forward to a fantastic line up of shows and events for audience members new and old. This edition of ‘What’s On’ will be focusing on January to April (with a sneak peak of beyond as well) as part of our new three monthly brochures. We have a range of events from Sing-A-Long Disney Movies to Stand Up Comedy, from Hanger Dances to Abba. 2017 will also see the development of our performing arts department with St. George’s Theatre Company performing the well-known play “Our Country’s Good”, and other productions to follow later in the year. Another new addition is our new Pay What You Can scheme which we are trialing in February Half Term with a family show entitled “The Real Mermaids Tale”. The scheme is being developed to introduce new affordable theatre experiences. Quite simply, you pay a very small reservation fee for your tickets, come and enjoy the show and at the end pop whatever you can in to our collection buckets. We are hoping this event will be successful enough for us to follow up later in the year. This has been made possible by some of our new Cultural Ambassadors, people and groups that have supported and helped subsidise helped subsidise cultural development in the borough by assisting with this scheme. Keep an eye out for more news in 2017 by following us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (don’t forget to like and share) and all of the staff and volunteers here look forward to seeing you soon.

pay what you can performances The Pay What You Can scheme is being developed by us here at St. George’s to help encourage people to come to the theatre and experience something they might not normally try. We aim to develop this into a main part of our programme for the foreseeable future. How does it work? All we ask is that you pay a very small reservation fee when booking your tickets, then at the end of the performance pay what you can in our collection buckets. The shows are subsidised from groups such as Creative Arts East and our Cultural Ambassadors (local businesses, groups and people who help to cover the costs of the shows).
