Scouts
What is Sprout Scouts? Sprout Scouts is a 10-month educational, community-building program intended to increase your customer engagement by bringing them into your shop again and again. Each week, or as often as you like, you can hold a Scout “meeting” where your scouts come together to knit, to learn, and to create. Sprout Scouts promotes community in your store by forming a group of knitters who gather for the common goals of advancing their knitting, earning achievements, and enjoying each others’ company. Stitch Sprouts provides you with all the tools you need to create this community. You just supply the space and the yarn!
What do you get? Sprout Scouts comes packaged in seats of five. Additional seats can be added on after the initial 5-pack is purchased. Each seat comes with the following: • Five exclusive Scout patterns • Several handouts/activities for each pattern • Tote bag for each student • 2 Related achievement patches for each pattern • Gifts, goodies, and extras in each shipment such as stitch markers, notions pouches, needle cases, and more! Additionally, by signing up for Scouts you will receive a Scout Leader Handbook with ideas for how to guide your scouts through each pattern. The handbook includes class lesson plans, activity night ideas, and pattern information so you can pair patterns with yarn from your store. You will also get access to promotional materials and graphics to help advertise the program. We really want you, your shop, and this program to succeed!
Is yarn included? No. We understand that every yarn shop has a different selection of yarn. We want you to sell your yarn! You can pair your yarns with our patterns. The Scout Leader Handbook will guide you to what yarns will be appropriate for the projects so you can sell the yarn you have in stock.
What are Aster and Buttercup? Aster is the name of the first year of the Sprout Scouts program, Buttercup is the second. Each year will have a new flower name and a new focus. This allows the yarn shop to run a previous year with new members while returning scouts move on to a new year. You could run Buttercup for the people who participated in Aster, and run Aster again for the people who missed out on Aster the first time. The focus of Aster is small knits with the following: The focus of Buttercup is beyond the basics with the following: • Alpinus: hat; knitting in the round • Jovis: bag; entrelac • Glehnii: mittens; introduction to stranded knitting • Lobbii: headband; double knitting • Maackii: socks; knitting socks top-down • Nivalis: scarf; brioche • Tripolium: cowl; introduction to cables • Flammula: cowl; steeking • Hayatae: shawl; lace knitting
• Acaulis: shawl; advanced lace knitting
What is the time line? You will receive five shipments a year, one in October, December, February, April, and June. The first shipment will contain tote bags, the Scout Leader Handbook, the first patterns, achievement patches, and activities. Every other month after you will receive another package with new patterns, patches, and activities. You can always sign up after we start shipping and we will send you everything that has already shipped! Feel free to begin your program any time you wish.
Does the Scout Leader get a free set of materials? No, if the Scout Leader wants to participate, as well as lead the knitting and activities, they should include themselves as one of the scouts when purchasing.
How do I sign up? Send us an e-mail at info@stitchsprouts.com and let us know! Order now and we will send you updates and promotional materials to help you launch Scouts at your shop.

Meet Our New Designers PDXKnitterati Michele Lee Bernstein is PDXKnitterati. She designs and teaches in Portland, Oregon. Accessories are her first love, especially if they use one or two skeins of very special yarn. Michele is fond of texture (brioche, lace, entrelac, elongated stitches), and enjoys using interesting techniques to make small knits sing. She also loves teaching knitters to be the boss of their knitting! She teaches at local yarn shops, fiber festivals (Madrona Fiber Arts Festival, Oregon Flock and Fiber Festival), and retreats. She is forever grateful to her Aunt Rose, who taught her to knit when she was 14.
Toby Roxane Designs Toby Roxane Barna is a full-time independent knitwear designer and dyer of luxury yarns. She began her design career in 2012, and since then she has released over 80 patterns and self-published three books. She is the author of Design Doubles (Stackpole Books, Sept 2018) and her designs have been featured in publications such as Knitty.com, Knitting Traditions, I Like Knitting, and she has contributed patterns to several Interweave compilations. Toby fell in love with dyeing yarn in 2015, and she now sells her yarn at festivals, trunk shows, and yarn shops. She especially enjoys being able to design patterns specifically for her yarn and vice versa. She finds inspiration everywhere, from classical architecture to the colors of the sky.

Announcing Volume 1: Side A and Side B. Stitch Sprouts is proud to present our first two pattern collections in our two yarn lines. We headed out to stunning Wissahickon park to photograph these beautiful pieces and we hope you enjoy them as much as we do. Inspired by sound, this harmonious collection will have your needles humming. Journey with us to West Philadelphia as we explore the sounds of autumn.
Side A These six patterns feature our Yellowstone yarn, a sport weight wool and silk blend. Yellowstone has superior stitch definition and a beautiful sheen. It’s perfect for everything from accessories to sweaters. Designers Corrina Ferguson, Jen Lucas, Angela Tong, Mindy Wilkes, and Heather Zoppetti bring you six must-knit patterns to add to your collection. You’ll want to cast-on immediately and knit all winter long.
Side B These six patterns feature our superwash bulky yarn, Crater Lake. This squishable, washable yarn is ideal for fast, cozy accessories and garments. Knit these patterns quickly for and wear them before spring! Designers Barbara Benson, Jennifer Dassau, Bonnie Sennott, Mindy Wilkes, and Heather Zoppetti bring you six snuggly knits to wrap up in this winter.
Trunk Shows Do you want to feature these beautiful collections in your shop? Both collections are available to travel to your store for trunk shows! We have books in stock and the samples are ready to show off. Let us know if you want these beautiful collections to grace your store. Contact us today and set up a time for your show.
