EARLY YEARS CONFERENCE 2022 EXPLORING HOW STEAM ENHANCES THE EARLY YEARS CURRICULUM This keynote opportunity and valuable hands-on workshop will highlight the interrelationship between STEAM and its value to our learners in the Early Years. It provides teachers with aspirational thoughts on STEAM education no matter how young our learners are and will include practical ideas to take into your own Early Years classroom.

STEAM learning spaces, resources and pedagogical approaches that develop STEAM learning will be presented, experienced and on display. Teachers will experience a range of practical ideas to encourage thinking, interwoven with purposeful talk for effective collaboration between their young students.

This is a full-day professional development session suitable for Early Childhood Educators (aimed from Kindergarten to Year Two), School Leaders, School Support Staff, Tutors, HomeSchool Educators and Special Needs Educators.

Laura Bain is the Head of Emerging Technologies and Innovation at Matthew Flinders Anglican College.

Discover how carefully selected children’s picture books can be integrated into a STEAM lesson to enhance oral and written language skills. Learn strategies that enhance your teaching of effective STEAM programs that help children build their capacity for learning, interacting and communicating. Participate in STEAM activities to learn how to integrate them seamlessly into your teaching and learning programs. Finish with a final recap and a chance to collaborate and discuss implementation into your personal setting.
