WALT CLINE – H2 KINETICS

DIRECTOR OF SPORTS PERFORMANCE / 13TH SEASON

Walt Cline has been the speed and movement coach for St. John’s baseball program since 2009. Cline is a movement and sports science specialist and works with all aspects of athlete development, including strength and conditioning, speed and movement training, injury prevention and return-to-sport strategies. As a professional, Cline has served as an educator, coach and consultant in collegiate, scholastic and professional settings in the United States. He is currently the owner and operator of H2K (H2 Kinetics LLC and H2Ksports. com), and he serves as a volunteer assistant track and field coach (movement specialist) at the University of Virginia.

As a sports science coach, Cline has worked with prospective scholastic athletes, collegiate athletes and professional athletes in a variety of sports organizations, including: NFL, MLB, MLS, NBA, NCAA (ACC, SEC, PAC12, MAC), WBC/WBA, WLPGA and USTA. During his seven years in the mid-Atlantic region, Cline’s work and contracts have included, but are not limited to, director of athlete development (St. John’s College High School baseball program, Washington, DC: 2009-present); speed movement consultant (DC United); movement/strength and conditioning consultant (Washington Nationals); director of athlete development (Velocity Sports Performance, Alexandria, VA); consultant co-director of athlete development (Velocity Sports Performance, Westchester, NY); concept of functional fitness project/combat conditioning, SME (United States Marine Corps); and consultant and clinic speaker on movement and sports science application to area sports organizations and supportive medical services.

Cline started his career serving as an assistant coach for both track and field and football at Fort Hays State University in western Kansas. He returned to the scholastic level in western New York, teaching health and physical education and coaching multiple championship teams at multiple schools in both football and track and field. When he began to coach and consult with professional athletes in 2005, Cline moved to the mid-Atlantic region and helped open and establish one of the largest and top-operating sports-performance training facilities in the United States. He continues to work at large in the DC area with organizations, team sport athletes, runners, cyclists, the military and other groups and individual projects.

Cline earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education/exercise science from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY, where he competed in football and track and field. He also holds a master’s degree in health and human performance from Kansas State University at Fort Hays. Cline is a certified strength and conditioning specialist with the National Strength and Conditioning Association.

SCOTT JUZWAK

DIRECTOR OF REHABILITATION/SPORTS SCIENCE & ANALYTICS / 3RD SEASON

Scott Juzwak earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science/physiology from Temple University in 2003 and a doctorate in physical therapy from Boston University in 2006. He received his certification as an orthopedic clinical specialist in June 2012 and his certification as a functional manual therapist in 2014. Juzwak has been certified in functional dry needling through Kinetacore and is a TPI certified level II medical professional.

Born and raised outside of Philadelphia, Juzwak began his career at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. There, he developed a strong interest in functional manual therapy through the Institute of Physical Art. Instead of looking at individual body parts, this unique form of physical therapy evaluates the whole body as a functional unit. He currently works at the Center for Integrated Manual Therapies (CIMT) in Columbia, MD, and Washington, DC, where he started collaborating with the elite strength and conditioning coaches at Optimum Performance Training Institute and developed a unique approach to exercise rehabilitation. Juzwak focuses on training foundational movement patterns, which effectively improve core stability, increase flexibility and build strength throughout the entire body.

Juzwak specializes in the treatment of both basic and complicated musculoskeletal injuries, especially individuals with chronic pain. His passion is sports, and his experience includes working with athletes at the high school, collegiate and professional levels, particularly those competing in baseball and golf. Scott lives in Columbia, MD with his wife Stephanie, and daughter Maclayne.
