LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT AND PRINCIPAL

Dear SJC Community,

We’re back!

After a 2020 season that was postponed, shortened, and fraught with uncertainty, we can’t wait to see our Cadets play on Smith Field at Fernandez Stadium, for the first time since November 16, 2019! On August 28, St. John’s will host Don Bosco Prep (New Jersey) under Head Coach Pat Ward ’93, in what will be his debut game on home turf. Pat, an SJC community favorite and SJC Hall of Famer, brings great passion and integrity to the football program.

Coach Pat Ward, along with his brother Coach Mike Ward ’06 and Head Performance Coach Matt Smith, used the off-season to build a team that is committed to excellence. Using a five-pillar philosophy of family, faith, service, love, and honor, the coaching staff is dedicated to developing student–athletes who exemplify our Lasallian values both on and off the gridiron.

This year’s team captains, Jamar Curtis ’22, Rohan Davy ’23, Josh Gary ’22, Wyatt Hagan ’22, Arturo Mattocks ’22, and David Ojiegbe ’23, are committed to leading the Cadets to another championship title. These student–athletes share a determination to achieve distinction individually and as a team.

We would like to thank Coach Ward and his staff along with Athletic Director Dennis Hart and his staff for their leadership and devotion to our students. We also thank the families and alumni who support St. John’s football program and the school community.

Go Cadets!

Sincerely,

Jeffrey W. Mancabelli President Christopher J. Themistos Principal
