In general, the year-to-date number of reported cases of enteric illnesses are slightly lower when compared with the median of the past five years. Notably, cases of cyclosporiasis (5 vs. 19 cases, 74% decrease), cryptosporidiosis (22 vs. 48 cases, 54% decrease), and E. coli shiga toxin (non O157) (25 vs. 31 cases, 19% decrease). However, cases of giardiasis (32 vs. 23 cases, 39% increase) and campylobacteriosis (107 vs. 98, 9% increase) are higher when compared with the year-to-date median of the past five years.

Six thousand and twenty-three (6,023) cases of COVID-19 were reported to Saint Louis County Department of Public Health (DPH) in December 2022. This is a 29.6% increase from the 4,648 cases reported in November 2022.

SALMONELLA: There were 10 new cases of Salmonella reported in December 2022. During the previous five years, the median number of cases has ranged from five to 15 per month.

CAMPYLOBACTER: There were four new cases of Campylobacter reported in December 2022 During the previous five years, the median number of cases has ranged from five to 12 per month.

CRYPTOSPORIDIOSIS: There were two new cases of Cryptosporidium reported in December 2022. During the previous five years, the median number of cases has ranged from zero to eight per month.

E. COLI O157:H7: There were zero new cases of E. coli O157:H7 reported in December 2022 During the previous five years, the median number of cases has ranged from zero to one per month.

E. COLI SHIGA TOXIN (non O157:H7): There was one new case of E. coli Shiga Toxin (non 0157:H7) reported in December 2022. During the previous five years, the median number of cases has ranged from one to five per month.

GIARDIA: There were two new cases of Giardia reported in December 2022. During the previous five years, the median number of cases has ranged from zero to three per month.
