In general, the year-to-date number of reported cases of enteric illnesses are slightly higher when compared with the median of the past five years. Notably, cases of salmonellosis (51 vs. 36 cases, 42% increase) and E. coli shiga toxin + (non O157) (not serogrouped) (9 vs. 8 cases, 13% increase) are higher when compared with the year-to-date median of the past five years. With only five months of data, however, it is too early in the year to assess any meaningful trends across years.

Nine hundred and ninety cases of COVID-19 were reported to Saint Louis County Department of Public Health (DPH) in May 2023. This is a 40.0% decrease from the 1,639 cases reported in April 2023.
