Dear supporter,
May 2014
As this financial year draws to a close,
it gives me great pleasure to write to you, and to encourage you to make a tax-deductible donation to St Luke’s Anglicare. By donating to St Luke’s you are supporting the development of community programs to help foster positive change in our region, particularly for people impacted by disadvantage. Recently we met Jenny. Jenny had experienced many challenges in her young life, but by connecting with St Luke’s she was able to rebuild her life, and give her baby hope for the future. Working with our dedicated staff and drawing from the ongoing support you provide, we can continue to make a difference to Jenny, and the many young people walking a similar path. That’s why your donation is so vital. It enables us to further assist the people we work with, to help us invest in the future potential of our community, and above all … to bring respect, hope and fairness into all of our lives. Yours sincerely,

I get to keep my baby …– Jenny JENNY IS A TEENAGER. SHE’S 15. When Jenny fell pregnant, her world crumbled. At home, family life grew tense and unsafe. Jenny found herself homeless. In Bendigo. In distress. For a young single parent with no place to live, it can be almost impossible to get off the streets, let alone go to school ... Fast-forward nine months. Her life is stable and secure. Jenny has a beautiful baby, and through her connection with St Luke’s they now live in a cosy suburban home. Support for Jenny is part of a St Luke’s program designed for young mums who may be vulnerable to having their children removed by authorities. We continue to see Jenny, meeting her educational needs and helping her to learn about parenting, and how a child learns, grows and plays. She’s got mates now, and catches up with other teen mums regularly. One day, Jenny and her child will move from this house, and she’ll live independently. But for now, she’s found ‘home’. And they’re both snug as a bub in a rug. Due to the confidential nature of our work, the real names/identities in this story have been withheld.
