Breaking down barriers to hospice care...

We want St Luke’s to be a safe, comfortable and inclusive space for all members of our community.

We are therefore delighted that the Hospice has been awarded the Navajo Merseyside and Cheshire LGBT Charter Mark.

staff at the Hospice by increasing their knowledge and confidence in discussing sexual orientation and gender identity.

The training introduces teams to key terms and definitions, and helps staff to understand best practice, reflect and explore situations in which these terms may be used.

It’s hoped the training will be a positive first step in building a culture of inclusivity and openness across teams and with LGBTQ+ patients and visitors.

In September Ellen was invited to speak at the Hospice UK National Conference in Glasgow to share her work with other hospices across the UK.

This equality mark signifies good practice, commitment and knowledge of the specific needs, issues and barriers facing LGBTQ+ people when accessing care.
