St. Luke's PMR Introduces Spinal Cord Injury Neurorehabilitation Clinic St. Luke's is pleased to introduce its Spinal Cord Injury Neurorehabilitation Clinic at St. Luke's Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, located on the sixth floor of the hospital. St. Luke's Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation has a 50-year history of treating all levels and severity of nontraumatic and traumatic spinal cord injuries (SCIs). To expand upon that legacy and further specialize our care, we are pleased to welcome to our talented physician group, Elissa Zakrasek, MD, who will lead the SCI Clinic. The only one of its kind in Iowa, the SCI Clinic consists of an interdisciplinary team that focuses exclusively on comprehensive management of spinal cord injuries and diseases. The SCI team helps patients work through the initial stages of injury, address chronic complications and assist in healthy aging with a SCI. The clinic offers a wide range of specialty outpatient services including:       

Acute and chronic management of spinal cord injuries Functional electrical stimulation Neurogenic bladder and bowel management Sexuality and sexual health Spasticity management Wheelchair and seating evaluation Wound care

The SCI Clinic is designed to help patients cope with challenges related to SCI and improve their quality of life. We are committed to caring for patients throughout their spinal cord injury journey and meeting each patient's unique healthcare needs.
