DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES (Half year course – 1 unit; or full year course – 2 units. This course is offered in both Semester 1 and Semester 2 and you can choose it for Semester 1 or Semester 2 or both semesters). Digital Technologies is designed to allow students to develop computer skills to acquire, organise and present information. Students will understand how to apply computational thinking to problems and explore digital solutions to solve real-world problems. The areas of study are flexible so that students can choose to work on areas that are of interest to them. A range of areas of study within Digital Technologies include (but are not limited to): • web design using HTML and CSS • programming using Scratch, Python or other languages • project based on the Arduino, microbit or other programmable devices • robotics Class activities include: • practical programming tasks • multimedia presentations and online presentations • online web design and Python competitions • digital projects to solve real world problems • using the design process to produce worthwhile programs.
