Our city has grown from a community of rich agricultural roots to an urban destination stocked full of arts, culture, fine dining, shopping, sports, recreation, and family activities. With approximately 320,000 residents, Stockton is a microcosm of America and our diversity is our greatest asset. We are 41% Hispanic/Latino, 37% White, 21% Asian, and 12% Black. Foreign-born individuals comprise 26% of the population and 45% of households speak a language other than English. We have the oldest Sikh temple in North America and at one point had the largest Filipino population outside of the Philippines. It is an exciting time to be in Stockton. Our downtown is home to many new restaurants and businesses. Our waterfront offers amenities from exciting Stockton Kings NBA G-League Basketball to Ports Baseball. We are experiencing a renaissance in art and culture from our historic Little Manila District to our famous Haggin Museum which features key 19th and early 20th century American and European artists. Since the 1940’s, there have been major commercial and residential developments in Stockton. Industrial growth has been accompanied by residential developments. Stockton supports very active and world-renowned talent including a civic theater, symphony, opera, and chorale groups. The Haggin Museum, our local museum, is rich in collections and

Downtown Stockton is a unique gem in California’s Central Valley. It is home to annual events, sports, eclectic dining, and a waterfront that is second to none. Located at the intersection of I-5 and Highway 4, Downtown Stockton is the government headquarters for San Joaquin County and employs more than 15,000 workers. It is also home to the largest inland seaport on the West Coast, making Downtown Stockton a hub for transportation and manufacturing. As the heart of the agricultural Central Valley, Downtown Stockton influences the production and distribution of our nation’s food supply. Since the early days of Stockton’s history, the arts have played a prominent role in providing a wide variety of artistic and cultural activities. Stockton is extremely proud of the Stockton Symphony, which is one of the preeminent performing arts organizations in San Joaquin County. Following the San Francisco Symphony and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Stockton Symphony is the third oldest continuously performing orchestra in California. We are also fortunate to have our own Stockton Civic Theatre, which has delighted audiences for over a half a century. Our renovated historic Bob Hope (Fox) Theatre is host to world-class concerts, classic film viewings, comedy shows, and much more. The live entertainment list goes on with Stockton Chorale, Stockton Opera, San Joaquin Delta College Drama Department, University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music, Friends of Chamber Music, and Pacific Opera Theatre — all featuring various performances throughout the year! Stockton is also home to the Haggin Museum, which offers a unique collection of historical paintings, artifacts, and traveling exhibits; definitely a must-see for visitors! Just up the road from the Haggin, in Micke Grove Regional Park, is the San Joaquin County Historical Museum. Local artwork can also be viewed at any of the various art galleries throughout Stockton, including: Mexican Heritage Center, Goodwin Gallery, University of the Pacific’s Reynolds Gallery, and San Joaquin Delta College’s LH Horton Jr. Gallery. Cheer on the Stockton Ports, the longtime local minor league baseball team, and be a part of the action at the beautiful Stockton (Banner Island) Ballpark.
