WATERWAYS The Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta that runs from Sacramento to Stockton encompasses over 1,000 miles of waterways where fishing, bird watching, and recreational water sports are amongst the favorite pastimes of locals and visitors alike. Also making its home on the Delta is the Port of Stockton, which hosts freighters from all over the world and acts as a gateway to the Central Valley and all of California. Numerous marinas, recreational parks, RV parks, restaurants, and much more can be found along the length of the Delta. There’s something for everyone!
UOP University of the Pacific, commonly referred to simply as “Pacific,” is a private university that became California’s first chartered institution of higher education in San Jose in 1851, later opening its doors in the heart of Stockton in 1924. Nearly 7,000 students enroll at Pacific every year and become part of their historic culture. The picturesque campus has been used as the set of many films throughout the years—you may have seen it in Raiders of the Lost Ark, Flubber, or All The King’s Men—and makes for a beautiful place to tie the knot! The tall building with the stained-glass windows that can be seen from afar is the Robert E. Burns Tower, the location of university information. A tour of Pacific is definitely a must!
