This season shows no sign of slowing down after a jam-packed summer, as the next few months play host to an exciting variety of talks, tours and demonstrations. Stockton & District Motor Club
The 500 Club
Tuesday 9 July — Sunday 29 September Find out about the Stockton & District Motor Club, which has been active for over 80 years and is still going strong! The members organise and participate in a number of motoring and social activities, the most popular of which are, unsurprisingly, rallying and karting!
Tuesday 1 October — Sunday 5 January Bus travel has been a feature of life for many people on Teesside over the past seven decades. The 500 Group is for people with an interest in the heritage of Teesside buses and who wish to preserve that heritage for future generations
The U3A
Tuesday 7 January — Sunday 6 April This exhibition showcases some of the leisure and recreational activities that the Stockton U3A (The University of the Third Age) are involved in. Find out more about the group and what activities they organise for older people no longer in fulltime work. Harvest Home
Behind the Scenes Tour
Thursday 19 September • 10:00am — 12:00pm Free with normal admissions A fantastic opportunity to peek inside our purpose-built collections store and meet a member of the Collections Team, as you discover what goes on behind the scenes at the Museum. Saturday 28 September • 10:00am — 4:00pm Free with normal admissions Harvest Home returns for its second year, showcasing the delicious produce from the Museum’s Walled Kitchen Garden and celebrating the start of the Harvest season with a range of activities and demonstrations. You will be able to buy garden produce and a variety of items on the day

Strawberries & Steam
Saturday 21 September • 1:00pm — 2:00pm Free with normal admissions Hear our journeyman gardener explain how the invention of the steam engine revolutionised the production and transport of fruit and vegetables for market. Discover the lengths to which head gardeners would go in order to ensure produce arrived in pristine condition.
Veg Appeal
Saturday 12 October & Sunday 13 October • 1:00pm — 3:00pm Free with normal admissions Shrivelling cucumbers? Pods just not plump enough? Join the chaps from the National Vegetable Society for a weekend of question and answer sessions. Ask about all things, from growing in the confines of a backyard, to developing veg envy in your own prized specimens.
Winter Colour
Sunday 3 November • 1:00pm — 3:00pm £25 (including refreshments) Booking advised Come and make a winter hanging basket, which will look fabulous well into the spring. Learn new planting tips and discover how to keep it in good condition throughout the Christmas period.
Bombers and Mash
Sunday 17 November • 11:00am — 3:00pm Free with normal admissions Join us in the Kitchen Garden and F3 Demonstration Kitchen for day of information about the World War II Dig For Victory campaign and allotment movement; whilst sampling some never forgotten recipes given to mothers across the nation by the Ministry of Food
Biodynamics: Fact or Fiction?
Sunday 26 January • 1:00pm — 3:00pm £10 (including a biodynamic calendar for 2014) Booking required Man has been sowing crops by the phases of the moon for over 3000 years. Join our gardener as he explains the principles behind the theory and gives his conclusions on crops sown during the 2013 season. Try the process for yourself with your very own biodynamic calendar. 4

Highlights Tours
Every Wednesday & Thursday (excl. school holidays) • 2:00pm (meet at the main desk) Free with normal admissions — donations welcome Encounter the highlights of our galleries; from exploring the history of the Grade II Listed Hall, to stepping back to 1895 in our Victorian Street. Please note that the tour will visit a number of galleries on different floors of the Museum and involves walking and standing for around 45 minutes. No booking is necessary, however spaces are limited.
Kitchen Range

Why not come along to the F3 Kitchen and take some time to enjoy the richness of traditional foodstuffs? The F3 Demonstration Kitchen is on located on the 1st Floor of the Museum.
Tea & Tango
Sunday 29 September, Sunday 20 October, Sunday 10 November, Sunday 15 December • 2:00pm — 4:00pm £5 (including refreshments) Calling all dancers, from beginners to pros! Enjoy an afternoon of dance in the elegant surroundings of our recently restored Music Room. Everyone is welcome, with or without partners. During the dancing, there is a short interval for tea and cake. Spaces are limited, so early booking is advised. Tickets are available from the museum’s reception desk or by calling 01642 527375. 5

Making a Mess! Under 5s Club
Tuesdays • 1.00pm - 3.00pm Please note that Making a Mess is term-time only. It takes place on: 10, 17 & 24 September; 1, 8 & 15 October; 12, 19 & 26 November; 10 December and 4, 11 & 25 February Join us for messy crafts, stories and playtime, based on a different theme from the Museum & Garden displays. Stained Glass

Traditional Wood Carving
Saturday 5 October • 10:00am — 4:00pm £35 Create a unique hand carved piece such as a spoon or butter knife. A complete start to finish experience from splitting logs to designing and producing the finished item to take away on the day. 7

Volunteering Opportunities
Here at Preston Park Museum & Grounds, we are always looking to add new volunteers to our always-growing team. We are particularly keen to hear from people who would like to be involved with one or more of these following three roles:
Costumed Interpreter Volunteer Help us to create an unforgettable experience for our visitors. We are seeking costumed interpreters to enhance the historic atmosphere of the Victorian Street and Walled Kitchen Garden. We provide all costumes and training.
Visitor Experience Volunteer
If you love meeting new people and sharing knowledge, we need you on our team! We are looking for volunteering with great interpersonal skills who can work as part of our Visitor Services Team. You would welcome visitors and help make our museum displays and activities more accessible for all.
Gardening Volunteer
Are you passionate about gardening? Here you have an opportunity to help prepare and maintain our unique heritage gardens and orchard. We are looking for volunteers to work in the garden and share their knowledge of horticulture with our visitors.

CREATIVE KIDS Holiday Activity Programme
Activities are free with normal admission (unless otherwise stated), however, there is a 50p per child suggested donation to help with the cost of materials. Please note: Our children’s workshops are suitable for ages 6+ (unless otherwise stated). Younger children are welcome however they will need help from their adult during the workshop. Children must be accompanied by an adult during their visit and activities. Please be aware that for drop-in workshops, when the session is full, tickets will be issued for the later slots. Please note: Drop in activity, free with normal admission. There is a suggested donation of 50p per child, to help cover the cost of materials.
