Introduction Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Programme for School Based Employees 2011/2012 Welcome to this years programme of Continuous Professional development for the children`s workforce in schools. in providing this programme the Workforce development Team (Children`s services), recognises the need to ensure that all employees, have opportunities to improve their skills and knowledge, thus enabling them to perform their role to the maximum effect for the benefit of children, young people and their families. This programme, alongside its other related multi-agency programmes e.g. safeguarding, demonstrates our commitment to provide high quality training and development initiatives in response to identified needs. included in the programme is a signposting directory to other CPd providers. it is with pleasure therefore that i recommend to you these opportunities for professional development.

About Our CPD Programme Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for School Based Employees 2011/2012 stockton-on-Tees Local authority is committed to facilitating first-rate professional development opportunities that make an impact on the quality of teaching and learning in schools. To support this we have developed and published career progression frameworks for teachers and support staff – see the appropriate section of this booklet. The 2011/2012 CPd programme for school based employees reflects identified areas of priority and expertise. The programme and course search facility is available to everyone on-line at www.stockton.gov.uk/cpd. stockton primary schools can also access the programme on the school’s ‘its Learning’ platform. New courses may be added on-line after the booklet is published and these will be available to view via the on-line course search facility. a poster of courses will continue to be published termly. The booklet is divided into 3 sections and includes: • Courses • a signposting directory to other providers of CPd for school based staff in stockton-on-Tees Local authority • CPd Opportunities and Frameworks

Charges Many schools in stockton have bought into the Workforce development support for schools service Level agreement (sLa) which includes support staff Training and school Leadership development. The courses which are included in the sLa are clearly marked and will not incur a cost. if you are unsure whether your school is in the Workforce development sLa please ask your headteacher or school administrator. These courses are open to all applicants and for those schools not in the sLa charges are identified within the course details.

How to apply Staff must apply for all courses using the online application form at www.stockton.gov.uk/cpd There should be no assumption that staff can automatically attend The headteacher/line manager must approve all applications apply early to be sure of a place all bookings will be acknowledged in writing, however, if you do not receive confirmation of your place on the course please ring the telephone number of the course contact

Substitutes & Cancellations Where an applicant is unable to take up a confirmed place on a course the school should inform the course contact as soon as possible. if the place cannot be filled the following range of cancellation fees will apply: • More than 2 weeks

- no charge

• 1 week’s notification - 75% • Less than 48 hours

- full cost

if you wish to send a substitute please contact the course contact to advise the change. There is no charge for this. We endeavour not to cancel courses but reserve the right, in exceptional circumstances, to cancel and exclude any liability for any loss or expense that may arise from the cancellation.

How to pay Payment for stockton schools will be via internal journal transfer. Payment from external bodies will be via invoice.

The Workforce Development Team (Schools) Continuous Professional development for the children’s workforce in schools in stockton is facilitated by the Workforce development Team based at the education Centre.
